"Sao Miguel is small enough that you can choose one accommodation centrally located and drive the whole island. Verde Mar and Spa offers ocean views overlooking a beautiful surf beach. Included breakfast is great and in house dining is convenient after a day of touring the island. Ribeira Grande is quaint without the urban cluster of P. Delgado. The 20 minute drive to the north side of the island is certainly worth it."

"Paulo was a fantastic host.He was more than helpful, super devoted and caring.He waited for us to arrive, although it was late (and delayed) at check-in, he went through all the things we could use and things he made available for us, he had instructions manuals, ..... Very well organized with a human touch. He provided a explicit and comprehensive list of things to do and see, recommations for restaurants and bars, beaches, hicking trails, ...As for the place, it is bigger than expected which was a nice surprise. We slept well, we were comfortable throughout our stay. It was clean, beautiful, comfortable, and the interior is recent, bright as per pics.The location : the VRBO is close to Ribiera Grande, which itself is the 2nd biggest city on São Miguel Island. Easy access by Taxi/car, but also by public transportation, although you have to time/plan properly with busses as they don't run that often. But once in town (Ribiera Grande), there are shops, beaches, restaurants, .... Rabo de Peixe has also quite a bit to offer. We once had lunch at a nice chocolate bar in Rabo de Peixe - within walking distance - with delicious freshly made sandwiches and much more. Walking distance to some restaurants also.Overall 5 stars to the hosts, the property and the location."

"The apartment was comfortable and well equipped for a family , the property is quite isolated and when we arrived late in afternoon there was no one around. Getting in through big gates and shutters felt unsettling . The grounds were large but seemed unfinished which wasn’t very inviting to sit outside. One of the reasons we choose this place was because of the beautiful grounds pictured."

"We had a fabulous stay at Maison Emeraude. Franck and Miguel were wonderful and attentive hosts. We stayed there for two nights during our honeymoon and only wished we could have stayed longer! The breakfasts were incredible and we chose to have dinner there, which they offer every other night (don't miss it!). They also have a menu of snacks and drinks to choose from during the day. The room is incredibly spacious and steps away from a beautiful pool. The design aesthetic and hospitality of this place are 10/10. We hope to return some day and cant wait to recommend Maison Emeraude to any friends visiting Sao Miguel Island. You wont regret staying here!"

"The view from the upper rooms of the ocean is breathtaking. The bed is comfortable and the small kitchen space has the basics of what you need. The patio space is shared with other units (although some bamboo provides a bit of privacy) so others smoking &/or having loud conversations can affect the tranquility. The surrounding area is farmland so it is very tranquil. The lodge is under renovation/construction - something we didn’t know. But the work stops in the afternoon so there was no issue. We would definitely stay here again for the views!"

"Set in a beautiful landscape in the countryside, high quality and tastefully furnished, perfect equipped apartments, and, most of all, incredible staff: Angela served delicious (highly individualized) breakfast in a beautiful breakfast room. Angela, Cissa, and Nicole (as well as everyone doing written communication) was incredibly friendly, competent, helpful, and all around delightful. I want to return soon. Pico do Refugio is also ideally located, right in the middle of the island, no matter what destination. The garden is beautiful, the pool super clean. One can't ask for more!"
