"This is a supposedly high end hotel charging an exorbitant amount of money on the basis of its riverside location but failing to deliver on the basics such as cleanliness, maintenance and managerial oversight. We arrived 18 minutes before the stated check in time of 1500; on asking if the room was ready a very loud receptionist informed me in no uncertain terms that check in was at 1500. I suggested we did the paperwork by which time it was 12 minutes before check in but she would not budge on...

"We really enjoyed our visit, liked the hotel which had a cosy friendly atmosphere. Clare was particularly helpful when our television would not work, she made two visits to our room to resolve the matter to our satisfaction. Clare was also very chatty and friendly when we had other queries, a valuable asset to the hotel."

"There are no useful amenities and the ones advertised aren’t really: the bar is a desk that never seems to be open no draft beer etc. the swimming pool was locked up with a comdnation lock that we were not given the code to on arrival and the nearest pub is 30 minutes away over fields however it was a very nice pub to eat & drink. When we arrived there was no one there and the door to the reception was not opened until 16:00 on the dot by the receptionist who was in there all along."

"Very comfortable large room in the garden of the pub. Oak beams, beautiful flowers outside the window and a very comfortable bed. The continental breakfast was eaten in the room. Unfortunately although the milk & fruit juice in the fridge were ok I am coeliac so the cereals and croissant were not suitable. When I told the young lady behind the bar she immediately went to a local shop and came back with a box of GF cereals and a GF loaf. Excellent service. Maybe a toaster in the room would be...

"We usually stay here when in Cambridge. I think this was our first visit under new ownership. The place was great as usual. The staff were friendly but clearly stretched too thinly. We waited in the bar for service and eventually went elsewhere. The wait for breakfast to arrive was around 40 mins. It proved difficult even getting clean cutlery. When asked about our stay at checkout, we mentioned the slow service but got no response or enquiry suggesting it was a well recognised problem."
