"Lovely hosts, room was nice, spacious and good to have a living area rather than just a bed to lay on. Breakfast was incredible, best I have had (I've had a few!)."

"Started with a booking issue via Expedia (small double rather than a king-sized bed booked) but resolved directly with the Hosts. Great location, opposite the park and lovely, solid furniture in the room. Parking permits available in the property for a small fee worked well. Just the shower could do with an update. If we visit again, I'd book a room with a bath."

"No really complaints, no lift so stairs were a bit of a pain with bags and room was a bit ratty. Loose loo roll holder, walls a bit grubby and the shower gave surges of scalding hot water but pretty ok with it overall"
"Noise insulation is not the best and a shame that the restaurant does not do takeaways so guests would have been able to enjoy their meals in their rooms or as room service. Other than that, brilliant views, mesmerising decors in the lobby that definitely added to the charm of Whitby"
"Good hotel if you like fade charm. The Group were on 2nd 3rd floor these were ok esp 2nd floor. Rooms below entrance (downstairs) were not so good per part of group that were here last year. On each floor spectacular lounge areas to meet up. Outside over looking sea also very good. Some one in group had been to Waldorf Astoria NY some years ago as part of cruise deal. They rated this hotel better for room 2nd F & open area spaces If this was in London & had some more improvements it would cost serious money."
"We were gifted a voucher as a maternity present and chose to spend it on a hotel. We decided on Gisborough Hall because of its promise of a luxury experience. The initial room did not feel luxurious and was more reminiscent of a standard chain hotel room than a premium country house hotel. Our view overlooked an active construction site with workers, building materials, and construction equipment.
Upon request we were upgraded to a room with a forest view, which was appreciated. However, it left us wondering why guests who had already booked and paid were not allocated the better rooms in the first place. Were we treated differently because part of our stay had been paid for using a gifted voucher?
Another major disappointment was the "king-size" beds, which are actually two separate mattresses pushed together. One of the reasons we chose Gisborough Hall was for the comfort and space a true king-size bed should provide as a family. This felt misleading.
The Chaloner dinner service staff were attentive and professional throughout. The food itself was underwhelming. The duck was overcooked, lacking the flavour and quality expected, while the beef shin resembled a fillet rather than the slow-cooked, fall-apart texture one would associate with the dish. We also overheard diners at a neighbouring table making similar comments about their meal, suggesting our experience was not an isolated one. We left feeling that we had paid premium prices for a distinctly average experience."
"This hotel is not the easiest to find by car but is well worth the effort. You can buy a local parking permit from them at a discount rate of £5 per night.
Our room (214) was huge, with a wonderful sea view. The bed was so comfortable, and the bed linen was spotless and excellent quality. There was a coffee pod machine and tea making facilities, with free bottled water and fresh milk in the fridge.
The buffet breakfast was lovely and all the hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We didn’t eat there in the evening as we went to a local event, but the menu looked amazing.
I can’t recommend The Bike & Boot highly enough and we would definitely stay there again."
If you're looking for something a little different than your standard hotel experience, a stay at a bed and breakfast could be a great option for your vacation.
