Top Glass at the Barn Hotel Reviews
New Inns
8/10 Good
"Great location, nice size room. Kettle on the room, (could do with a few more tea bags and milk cartons). Really Quiet, I thought I'd hear noises but I didn't hear anything. Good dark curtains to keep the light out. Staff allowed me to park and follow a trail that is literally behind the pub. There is a restaurant (I didn't try the food, but I did have a nice beer of the evening)."
Wildhive Callow Hall
8/10 Good
"Wildhive is a beautiful hotel. We especially liked its proximity to Ashbourne which is a lovely little town with lots going on, and is an easy 15 minute walk away. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was disappointing, particularly the breakfast. Stay at Wildhive but eat elsewhere."
5* Detached Stone Cottage with a Private Indoor Pool (Not Shared)
10/10 Excellent
"Fantastic as always!"
The Dog and Partridge Country Inn
10/10 Excellent
"What can I say about this place that’s not Been said before!! What struck me most wasn’t just how sleek and modern the hotel is but how effortlessly everything works around you. Nothing felt like an afterthought. The staff have that balance of being incredibly attentive without being intrusive, and theres a genuine sense they care about your experience. We slept better than we have in ages, ate food that wouldn’t have looked out of place in a top restaurant, and most importantly for us our children were entertained, happy and safe throughout. There was a feeling of calm from the moment we arrived. We could actually switch off, relax and enjoy being together, which is something that’s surprisingly difficult to find. We left already planning another visit. That probably says more than any review ever could. An absolute Gem!! Get it booked."
Ashbourne Gateway Lodge
8/10 Good
"I really enjoyed our stay at the lodge and overall we had a very good experience. The inside was above our expectations. The rooms were newly refurbished, clean and comfortable, and the kitchen and dining areas were also really nicely done. The beds were comfortable and everything felt fresh and well looked after. The caretaker was extremely helpful and supportive throughout our stay, and we received really good customer service, which made us feel very welcome. There are just a couple of things that I think could make the experience even better. It would be nice to have some basic refreshments provided, such as tea, coffee and milk, especially for guests arriving after a long journey. The outside of the building could also do with some improvement. We found the property quite difficult to locate at first, as from the outside it looks like an older building and it wasn't immediately obvious that we were in the right place. Better and clearer signage would definitely help. However, once we got inside, we were pleasantly surprised by the standard of the accommodation. It was clean, spacious and comfortable, and the newly refurbished rooms were lovely. Overall, we had a really nice stay and I would definitely recommend the lodge, particularly for large families, group gatherings and families travelling with children. We would happily stay again."
Old Millers Cottage, Dovedale, Derbyshire / Staffordshire borders
10/10 Excellent
"Charming cottage by the river. Everything there for our stay. Cooked in some nights and the kitchen was well stocked with pans and dishes. Very quiet and cosy."
YHA Ilam Hall - Hostel
10/10 Excellent
"Excellent place to stay with a family, our 3,6 and 11 year olds loved the outdoor spaces, the gardens and play areas are fantastic and the lounge areas are also great for families. The room was a good size and the dining room had great food at decent prices, esp as kids eat for £1! You can walk directly from the hostel to many different paths into countryside or dovedale. Our family loved this place, I highly recommend it."
3 bedroom accommodation in Ashbourne
8/10 Good
"Well appointed & comfortable tiny characterful old property. Not much spare room & very steep stairs."
2 bedroom accommodation in Ilam, near Ashbourne
10/10 Excellent
"We had a lovely stay at Garden Farm Cottage. The cottage is clean and comfortable and the owners were very friendly and helpful. It was snowy and icy during our stay and the hills looked very pretty covered in snow. The gardens are large, which our little dog loved. Gorgeous views from the french doors overlooking the hills. There are no amenities in the village so you need to bring provisions to begin with, although the owners did supply a small bottle of milk in the fridge. There is a lovely, long walk along the riverside in the village. A trip into Ashbourne is highly recommended."
