Gettysburg Battlefield Museum

Allow plenty of time to explore the museum. Lots of information to look over. If you have children, be sure to pick up the Junior Ranger workbook at the NPS desk.

the film was wonderful and informative even for people who know the basics of the civil war. HOWEVER, the part of the museum where you go to see the diorama and see/hear the show, better be prepared to SEE NOTHING. there is only a small part of the 360 degree painting that reflects the action of the story and the railing along that section gets to be 3 and 4 people deep as soon as you come up the elevator. everyone else is relegated to the sides and back of the circle and can see nothing of the action. if the standing area was 10 feel lower or the painting held higher then everyone could see it; as it was, i only saw the blue sky while the battle was being described below it. disappointing.

The film and Cyclorama are dramatic and very moving. A must see.

This museum and all other historical attractions in Gettysburg cost money unless you drive yourself around.
