"As always, we enjoyed our stay at the Outside Inn. The only issue was that a previous guest had obviously smoked in the suite. It mostly smelled in the kitchen. They probably thought they could open the windows, and nobody would be the wiser. It doesn’t work that way. Once you smoke inside, it is nearly impossible to get the smell out. It’s beyond rude to the proprietor and future guests. That there are grounds with ashtrays makes your selfishness more offensive. We will be back, but probably...

It is so gorgeous you have to see it to believe it... everything is so thought out and perfect, from the decor to the fruit and yogurt being served in the most elegant mason jars, the teacups artistically placed on the walls can only be seen as art! What truly made this an unforgettable experience, though, was the incredible staff. Every single person we encountered went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. A special shoutout to the front desk team for their warm hospitality and professionalism—they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The restaurant staff also deserves recognition. Whether it was brunch or dinner, the service was exceptional. The waitstaff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about making every meal a great experience. It’s rare to find a place where both the property and the people are equally outstanding. Thank you to everyone at the National Exchange Hotel for making our visit so memorable. "Wonderful cabins clean and well equipped, quite a nice setup for a cabin in the deep woods it’s quite a treat. Very nice area to chill, and many places to explore , north Yuba river easy access everywhere on 49 and wild plum rd beautiful river access right by the inn. 5 minutes to Gold lake highway , numerous lakes and spectacular views of the north sierra butte. So much to see and do. No tv but who needs it, the only thing to be aware of is that the closest big grocery store is far from sierra city so pick up stuff b4 you start climbing the hills."

"We had a wonderful stay, a third time in three years. It suited our family very well. The cabin was very clean when we arrived and well appointed with all we might want to use for cooking, playing a few games, reading books and a great binder with clear info about the area. Our host was very responsive with messages. There is lots to do in the area--fishing, hikes, swimming at Sand Pond--a bit of a drive and well worth it."
