It all started with a sunset. When I saw the apartment for the first time, it was old and poorly maintained, but it had the flavor of Florence’s ancient history. The wooden beams on the ceiling, the plaster moldings framing the walls, the steep stone staircases typical of old Florentine houses, the wooden windows… Then, when I stepped out onto the terrace… I was bathed in a beautiful light that tinged the entire sky with pink. I looked to the left and—Wow!—the Dome, the Basilica of San Lorenzo, the Medici Chapels… magnificent… the pink light seemed to touch them all. A one-of-a-kind sight. A beauty you never get used to. I decided to buy and share this marvel. So that’s what I did. The work took a full year—a total renovation—to create something unique and special. Solid wood parquet floors, new antique-style lacquered doors—just like the doorknobs. Each room has its own bathroom, imagined, designed, and crafted with attention to detail, colors, materials, and fine furnishings; everything has been meticulously curated to make each room a beautiful, distinct, and unique space. It was a long and hard process, but I hope the result will be appreciated.
The area is Via dell’Ariento, the street lined with street vendors selling bags, belts, leather goods, clothing, shoes, and souvenirs, as well as old-fashioned Florentine shops: the bakery, the pastry shop, the ceramics shop, home goods stores, and then a myriad of restaurants of every kind, serving traditional Florentine cuisine such as Da Michele, Zazà, Piazza del Mercato, Lorenzo de’ Medici on Via del Giglio, La Capannina, bars, lounge bars, and taverns where you can enjoy a drink with a platter of appetizers. We’re a two-minute walk from Santa Maria Novella, across from the Central Market, where the first floor still features traditional Florentine shops—butchers, fishmongers, fruit vendors, cheese shops, and grocery stores; on the first floor, there’s a large open space with all kinds of dining options, open every day until midnight. It’s a very central area, entirely pedestrian-only, just like the parallel Via Faenza, which is full of restaurants and traditional eateries. All the monuments and museums are just a few minutes’ walk away. Piazza del Duomo is 5 minutes away, 2 minutes from the Medici Chapels, where Lorenzo the Magnificent and members of the Medici family are buried, and 2 minutes from the beautiful Piazza S.M. Novella with its basilica.
