Treat yourself to a break, take each day as it comes, or quietly lose yourself in that book you’ve been meaning to read for so long —you’re sure to find a cozy spot. Or fill your day with activities like biking through the Südoldenburg wilderness, canoeing on the Hunte River, barbecuing with friends, or relaxing in our barrel sauna. The barrel sauna can accommodate up to 4 people. After a relaxing sauna session, you can unwind right next door in the Finnish kota hut. An outdoor shower provides a refreshing cool-down. For cool fall evenings or balmy summer nights—like the cherry on top—a crackling campfire is the perfect ingredient for a convivial evening in the garden. While our guests wait for their steaks or top their pizzas outside in front of the barbecue hut, they can warm up by the fire and enjoy the unique atmosphere. Sitting comfortably in the garden with friends and family, watching the sun go down, and firing up the grill. For many, this is the epitome of a successful summer evening. But how about pizza instead of steak for a change? During the warmer months, we bake crispy pizza in our outdoor stone oven for groups of 12 or more. Thanks to the high temperature, it not only has a unique flavor but is also ready in just minutes—perfect for feeding a crowd of hungry guests. A typical scene at the vacation farm: Children arrive with their parents, tumble out of the car, immediately spot the small stable with the curious heads of our two ponies peeking out, and run straight toward them with quick steps. Eighteen-year-old German riding pony Benny and his buddy Snoopy, a charming Shetland pony of the same age, are always happy to see new children’s faces. And children are always thrilled all over again when they get to ride on a pony’s back. Their eyes sparkle and their faces light up with joy as the four-legged friend slowly starts moving and goes for a spin. When it’s a bit chilly outside during the dark winter months or the rain just won’t stop, our recently renovated play barn offers the perfect escape for young and old alike. Kids can zoom around on Bobby Cars, pedal tractors, scooters, and go-karts, bounce on the giant trampoline, swing, or just run around and play.
Right in the heart of the Thülsfelder Talsperre recreation area, young and old alike can experience a very special adventure at Kletterwald Nord on ten different courses and test their limits on net bridges, planks, swings, zip lines, surfboards, or with Tarzan jumps from heights of up to 15 meters. A quick dip in the lake or outdoor pool But you don’t necessarily have to go to the ocean to have a great time at the beach. You can also enjoy maximum water fun and a refreshing dip at public swimming spots like Halener Badesee, Badesee Dwergte, or the outdoor pools in Vechta and Cloppenburg. If you’re staying with us at the vacation farm, you should definitely visit the Cloppenburg Museum Village, one of the largest open-air museums in Central Europe. Spanning over 25 hectares, you can immerse yourself in the historic rural architecture and cultural landscape of northwestern Germany. About a 25-minute drive from the vacation farm is the Thüle Animal and Recreation Park, which offers countless attractions—especially for families. In addition to over 500 exotic and native animals, children in particular can enjoy the butterfly train, the wave slide, the rope tower, the swing boat, and the fun park. The Ostrittrum Wildlife and Recreation Park is located in the heart of the Wildeshauser Geest Nature Park. Spanning over 18 hectares, the park allows visitors of all ages to observe primarily native wildlife such as roe deer, red deer, wild boars, and lynx.
The soft chirping of birds, green meadows to the left and right, flowering shrubs, and secluded forest paths. The paddle glides gently into the water, slides under the small Canadian canoe, and lets the boat glide almost silently across the river. For anyone who wants to explore new regions from a very special perspective and enjoys spending their vacation being active, a canoe trip on the little Hunte River is just the thing. Depending on the tour, canoe trips last three to five hours or cover a distance of nine to 20 kilometers. The routes are chosen so that participants have plenty of time to rest on the banks of the Hunte.
The Oldenburg Münsterland is a mecca for cyclists. Whether on an e-bike, road bike, or touring bike—cycling through the green, flat expanses is fun for everyone. Enjoy the breeze on your face and discover northwestern Germany. The “Boxenstopp Route” also runs right past our farm.
