The Neighborhood:
Deltaville, Virginia is a laid-back coastal town in Middlesex County ("the Middle Peninsula)" situated where the Rappahannock and York Rivers lead out to the Chesapeake Bay. Known as the “Boating Capital of the Chesapeake,” it’s a paradise for water lovers—perfect for sailing, kayaking, crabbing, and fishing. Other close by Middle Peninsula towns to explore include Gloucester (great arts community and home to the Daffodil Festival), Urbanna (home to the wildly popular Urbanna Oyster Fest in early November), Mathews, and Gwynn Island. Deltaville is also an easy drive to the Northern Neck, another peninsula bounded by the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers, with popular towns like Irvington (home to the iconic Tides Inn Resort-try their two restaurants, open to the public public), White Stone, and Kilmarnock, a great shopping town.
You'll find quiet beaches, charming marinas, and scenic waterways ideal for sunset cruises or paddle adventures. Visit the Deltaville Maritime Museum to learn about the area’s rich boatbuilding history, stroll the Holly Point Nature Park trails, or catch a local baseball game at the Deltaville Ballpark. For more outdoor fun, Middlesex has pocket parks with a river view, nature trails with sculptures, children's garden, boat and kayak launches, and marinas and docks. Middlesex County parks host events such as the farmers’ markets and outdoor music concerts. We share a comprehensive Welcome Guide upon booking.
The town has a small, welcoming vibe with local seafood restaurants, general stores, and a strong sense of community. It’s a place where you can launch your boat in the morning, eat fresh-caught oysters by lunch, and roast marshmallows by the fire come evening.
For the shopper in you, visit our boutique stores for men and women's clothing, home decor, art and coastal treasures. There are no chains stores here; you can meet the business owner and enjoy the personal customer service.
And that's just Middlesex. The Northern Neck peninsula is a short drive away and offers more small towns, fine restaurants, shops, and outdoor activities. And we are striking distance to Williamsburg and Richmond.
Book your stay today and have a memorable vacation in Virginia's River Realm!
