"Stunning building with such potential for a star of the art hotel in a fabulous historical building. Unfortunately it seems to be being run by a lack luster company with no imagination for what it could be. The room we had was enormous but had been decorated in very low quality materials. The carpets were cheap and badly laid and the curtains were a thin cheap materials. The Restuarant similarly had such huge potential but was thinly and poorly staffed with inexperienced and untrained staff. They did their best but were simply just not up to the job. The food was very average, not bad but average. A hotel in a property of such potential deserved much much better. We had great expectations on what was out 46th wedding anniversary but were disappointed despite the comfortable bed "

"Water in tap in bathroom sink was cold. There was no hot water in the sink when washing hands. Also tissue paper was of poor quality and they were sticking all over. At reception at arrival it was less welcoming. "

"Room was clean and tidy, but unfortunately there wasn’t any tea or coffee making facilities which was very disappointing, also there wasn’t any lecture about breakfast, time of vacating the room etc "

"Didn’t even stay the night. If you picture a seedy American motel. You’re not far wrong. Do not stay here if you have suicidal thoughts. I saw my room and immediately asked for a refund, the girl said she understood and would let the manager know as she would have to process a refund. I have not had a refund having contacted the hotel again and having a email conversation with the manger. It a budget hotel, so the 2 night stay I paid for isn’t worth my time perusing. The place had just opened I thought it may be ok. They are refurbing some rooms and I’m sure they will be pleasant, mine wasn’t. I have never left a bad review before and stayed in hundreds of hotels. This place is dismal and I didn’t like just being ignored with the refund. "

"Our family stayed for three days for christmas and overall, had a good experience.From the outset, communication with the host was strong, messages were clear and timely, and they made a genuine effort to resolve issues when they arose. The house was generally quite clean on arrival, felt family-friendly, and being pet friendly was a real bonus for us. Location-wise it was very convenient, close to amenities like Asda and petrol stations, and with quick access to the M6. The property also had the basic facilities and household equipment needed for a short stay, which made day-to-day routines straightforward.That said, the home would really benefit from a bit more maintenance and a refresh in places. A few items were showing wear and tear or were partially damaged, for example the fridge freezer was dented and had a broken shelf, the cooker caused the fuse box switch to trip and the oven door handle was broken, and there were various smaller maintenance points like shelves, shower door handles, and some wallpaper needing attention. The TV remote was not working properly and missing back cover. We also found the washer dryer did not wash properly, which was inconvenient over a family stay.Despite those issues, the host’s responsiveness and willingness to help made a difference, and the property’s cleanliness, practicality, and excellent location worked well for our needs. With some focused repairs and preventative maintenance, this could easily be a great place to stay."
