Excellent vintage hotel. Convenient location, easy to get to. Nice room and amenities. We had a wonderful stay. Best part is the service and staff. Very courteous and responsive. Special mention of Aryan, Michael, Prashanth, Akshay, Bhavna and Diki. Would definitely stay here when we come back.
Its a beautiful, nostalgic throwback to a colonial India hillstation. Darjeeling is wonderful and this hotel has memories, from the posters and photis on the walls, of life back when. I stayed in the Tenzing Norgay block, with old somewhat faded photos of the great man along every inch of corridor. But not everything works...some of the lights, the bedsheets dont fit, the towels are worn. None of that distracted me from the historic atmosphere of old time luxury. The afternoon tea was great, as were all meals. And staff exceptional.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Elgin Hotel. Our deluxe room was spacious, clean and comfortable. It also had a nice view.
We loved the Victorian style of the main building where the reception, bar, lounge and library are located. All the rooms including the dining room were tastefully decorated. The antique furniture and the artifacts take you back to the colonial times.
The food served in the restaurant was tasteful. What made the dining experience special was the excellent quality of service of the restaurant staff. They were extremely polite. highly efficient and attentive.
Unfortunately, we encountered one problem in the bathroom. The refuse was leaking in from the bathroom next door which was certainly a very unpleasant experience. When we complained about this, the hotel front desk staff immediately shifted us to another room which was next door. The staff not only apologized several times for our inconvenience but they also made sure that we got shifted to another room immediately. All in all, we had a very nice stay.

Building is amazing perched on the hillside and the staff were lovely.
Its a heritage property in a very nice area of Darj. However, the property is poorly maintained and it has musty smell in the rooms. Also the plumbing and maintenance is wanting in the rooms.
Approach from front office personnel was very casual and not customer friendly.
Room key was kept at Reception for cleaning and when returning back, did not find the Goggles kept on the table in the room itself.
Reported to reception immediately around 4 pm on the same day but they send the House keeping staff to us who simply denied for obvious reasons.
Reception personnel did not bothered to inform us about their enquiry if any in the matter or It May be that the complaint was just ignored by sending the person concerned to us.
We did not gave the keys for remaining days of our stay as I had lost my trust over the personnel therein.
Definitely, I will share this incident if anyone ask about the hotel.
staff very efficient.....property well maintained. Would strongky recommend ......its the best you can get in a hill statiion in india with heritage leanings
Un angolo di pace e armonia in stile inglese in una città bella ma caotica. Stanze belle e confortevoli. Personale molto gentile. Sicuramente da provare
Overall a good experience, The property was amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast and dinner menu and quality of food preparation can be improved further but these are surely not a show stopper. The property is at a walkable distance from Mall road, Kaventers etc
The Elgin provided comfort and wonderful, helpful service in a grand old building. It is perfectly located in Darjeeling. At dinner a very out of tune piano was played and it was quite awful sorry to say. The food was not as good as our previous visit with a sameness of flavour between dishes. We had a lovely two night stay.

Charming but a bit run down
We enjoyed our stay at the Elgin. It was comfortable and our room was charming and unique (Rm 57 was part of an annex on the third floor, all wood ceiling and floors). The hotel feels like an oasis within Darjeeling city. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. We stayed at the hotel for Christmas, so it was cold, and the hot water bottles at night were a nice touch. Dinner was very good and a nice variety (Indian menu was far better than western) with good service. However, the bathroom flooded our first night because the pipes were clogged. The bar was quaint but not very well stocked and service was not very good. The front desk was not very knowledgeable about the city and did not provide good service. The Christmas celebration (bonfire and a cultural show) wAs not worth the money (included one glass of wine, bufffet dinner, and no real Christmas themed program). I would recommend staying here, but just set your standards a little lower, even though the hotel bills itself as a much classier place than it really is.
Materassi e guanciali fatiscenti
colazione:assolutamente con cibo indiano, con poca scelta, lo stesso vale per la cena
Hotel in ristrutturazione, quindi con rumori durante l'arco delle giornata con forte odore di vernice nei corridoi. totalmente da evitare
Would not hesitate to stay here again. Excellent hotel from a diifferent era. Food very good and staff also very attentive and helpful. The best place to stay in Darjeeling.
