About this property
Large Vega Lake Colorado REAL LOG CABIN
Open year round, this spectacular 5300+ sq ft log cabin/lodge is a 1-hr drive from Grand Junction Airport. Nestled in an aspen grove overlooking Vega Lake, the cabin sleeps 16 people (kids included) and parks up to 8 vehicles. Wildlife abounds and the lake is full of trout (some up to 5 lbs). Outdoor equipment is offered free of charge (see list below) to enhance your stay. An expansive covered deck has a propane grill for BBQs and there is an outdoor fire pit for fireside evenings.
Located in Western Colorado’s Vega Lake State Park, you can relax in the expansive beauty and comfort that only a Real Log Cabin/Lodge can offer.
The cabin/lodge is the perfect year round get-away for family and friend gatherings. The cabin offers 6 bedrooms (including the open loft), 2.5 baths, a laundry room, a wood burning fireplace and a full kitchen that seats up to 16 people comfortably. There is a large outdoor fire pit as well.
Firm limit of 16 guests (including all adults, children, and infants under 1-yr-old) for the price we offer online. If your group is close (within 6 people above our limit), feel free to reach out with your group details/ages and we may be willing to negotiate. Firm NO PET policy. We love pets AND do not allow them inside or on the property—even outside. No smoking inside (including cannabis), but smoking outside (including cannabis) is allowed.
Open year round—Mesa County plows the roads right up to the cabin driveway.

FOR GET-TOGETHERS:
The cabin is the perfect place for get-togethers.
No loud outdoor music after 9 pm to preserve the peace in the area.
This cabin is NOT to be used as an event center—unless the event has a TOTAL of up to, but no more than, 16 people using the property.
No pets inside or outside on the property.
No Weddings or Receptions (unless under 16 people total). However, Vega Lodge (1.5 miles away) or the Pavilion at Aspen Park Campground (¼ mile away) are great spaces for such venues, and the cabin is the perfect place for the wedding party to stay together (up to 16 people total).
No additional camping on the property, or even at the nearby campgrounds, to increase guest numbers. In other words, do not use camping to extend your group numbers above our 16 person limit that will be on-site, even part time, and using the amenities of the cabin.***The cabin caretakers (who live in another cabin) are authorized to uphold the rules for the property.
Food/drink: Vega Lodge (1.5 miles away) offers dining and drink (seasonal) and Collbran (25 minute drive) offers a deli and a pizza parlor.
FOR SNOWMOBILING TO THE TOP OF THE MESA: Start right at the cabin. The Vega Snowmobile Trail #545 begins at the Vega State Park Trailhead just after crossing the dam and ends at an intersection with the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail (SP). On the Sunlight to Powderhorn Trail Map the Vega Trail is #37 (66 6/10 Road). There is a large parking lot at this Trailhead for trailers and you can drive snowmobiles to and from the cabin from there.
The Trailhead #37-A is just down from the cabin at the cross roads of Parkview Road and 64 6/10 Road. This trail 37-A intersects #37. While our guest you can park trailers on Parkview road tight to the right so that the plow can drive by. Then drive the snowmobile or your car/truck to and from the cabin.
The trail #37 continues on Forest Service Road 262 in the Park Creek drainage through aspen into open meadows in Big Park. About half way through the meadow, the trail will intersect the SP Trail near Monument Creek. NOTE: The large heated garage is the perfect place to park and work on your snowmobiles.
