This beautifully refurbished cottage is in the pretty village of Bridekirk, 2 miles from the market town of Cockermouth, the birthplace of William Wordsworth. If you are not busy exploring the Lakes or coast you can spend many hours in the nearby town, shopping, enjoying walks, visiting art galleries, discovering Wordsworth's legacy, or savouring a nice meal. Kirkgate Arts Centre and its cinema, also features live music and a theatre. Keswick is only 17 miles away and Bassenthwaite, Loweswater, Crummock, Derwentwater and Buttermere are all within very easy reach. Whinlatter Forest has the famous Gruffalo Trail – it’s also a great place for mountain biking (10 miles). The Lakes Wildlife Park (10 miles) offers a fun day out for all the family.
The cottage provides a warm welcome and has been finished to a high standard throughout, with lots of thought going into all the finishing touches. Walk in through the front door, and you will find yourself in a small lobby area where there is storage for coats and walking boots. To the right of the entrance, you will find the cosy lounge with a feature stone fireplace and a wood burner which offers a great place to curl up at the end of the day with a good book or watch your favourite film on the Smart TV. Up a couple of steps from the lounge, you will find the country-style kitchen which is bright and airy and has views over the garden. The kitchen is open and leads down into the dining area which is a great space to enjoy a hearty breakfast or a romantic evening meal. The traditional cottage stairs to the first floor are found in the lounge; upstairs, you will find two relaxing bedrooms with attractive low windows with views over the village. There is a family bathroom with a raised free-standing bath, a separate shower, and a WC.
There is a walled, enclosed rear garden which backs onto the open fields. The patio with seating is a great spot to enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of your favourite tipple on a sunny evening.
