Well Cottage is a unique detached 16 century Cotswold stone Jacobean cottage with original features capturing the character and charm of a truly authentic experience in a peaceful and relaxing environment.
Well Cottage offers modern conveniences including WiFi, USB points and central heating. Furnished to a high standard with carefully chosen antiques, a comfortable fabric English sofa, wing back chairs and Afghan carpets, its a delight in itself!
Based in the Heart of Bourton on the Water on a quiet cul-de sac within 2 mins walk to the River Windrush, yet still maintaining its privacy. You will have your very own driveway to park your car and won't have to worry about trying to find a parking spot on the street (We have double Yellow lines outside the house so that no one else can park in front of the house).
Well Cottage is well proportioned with good sized bedrooms and has been lovingly restored with its original beamed ceilings throughout and boasts an authentic large inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove.
The Cottage Garden is set around an original 16th Century Jacobean well and offers many varieties of flowers from Iris' in May, Lavender, herbs and many rose bushes. All the Artwork has been chosen to show off some of the local Cotswold talent. The upstairs is carpeted throughout and has high quality bedlinen and English Towels.
We have been a long established business of more than 20 years, we do not have a middle man to run this business, you will be talking to the owners of the cottage and not an agent and our reviews are a testament to the the love and care given to the cottage for you to enjoy a truly wonderful experience in what we think is a little gem. A wonderful stai in the Cotswolds

We spent a relaxing 2 weeks in this gorgeous period cottage. Dawn and Bette were excellent hosts and have attended to every need. Comfortable bedding, quiet and very cosy surroundings. Although only a couple of minutes from the main street it is very private and quiet. We made an excellent choice, we would recommend it to anyone looking for a base in the Cotswolds.

Great Stay

This was a great cottage to base yourself in the Cotswold’s. The two minute walk to the village was a great feature of this cottage as well as the parking spot. I enjoyed the fire and the beautiful surrounds. I would recommend a stay.

A charming cottage in the heart of the village.

This charming cottage, built in the 16th century, is nestled in the heart of the village. Within a stone’s throw, you’ll find a bakery, a pharmacy, and a supermarket. For a more extensive grocery selection, there’s a larger COOP just a 10-minute walk away. Additionally, there are several walking paths nearby, eliminating the need to drive. The friendly owner is always ready to assist with any questions you may have. Enjoy your stay!

Well Cottage was the perfect place to spend our time in the Cotswolds. Bette has thought of everything to make this a home away from home. The cottage located is in a quiet neighborhood with just a short walk to the shops and restaurants in the village. The accommodation are the quintessential English cottage.

Lovely Cottage

Thoughtfully appointed historical period home. Amazing fireplace which was all set for easy use. Home it situated within steps of an abundance of dining and shopping choices. Best of all there is a dedicated parking spot.

Wonderful cottage and hosts

The cottage is a gem in one of the prettiest and most visited villages in the Cotswolds. Our wonderful hosts had left a fresh loaf of local bread, local eggs, and home-made marmalade for us. We look forward to another visit from across the pond.

Beautiful cottage!

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful cottage in Burton on the Water! It's beautifully located in a quiet area of the village, but very close to the centre with all the shops and restaurants. A perfect spot to explore the Cotswolds, with beautiful walks, but also a really nice cottage to sit back and relax, catch up on reading and sleeping after busy times. Dawn was very kind and made sure everything was perfect. We hope to be able to come back!

This is a very special Cottage full of history and almost magical with a very warm homely feeling. We loved our stay and the scones cream and jam that was a surprise on arrival. So close to everything very friendly country feel to this Village. Was delighted to meet you Dawn and have a chat we would love to return someday. If you’re looking for a country cottage in a wonderful Village with lots of character look no further. The added bonus is a warm fire for a cosy night in with a local wine. A dream come true!

If you want to feel like you are starring in your own movie in a charming English village, book Well Cottage! The cottage is situated in the most perfect location. I did not have a car. So I spent mornings on long walks and then a nice lunch in the village. Then "home" to Well Cottage to rest my back in comfort, have a nice hot bath and then an evening out or reading in front of the fire. I slept so deeply( beautiful linens) in a very cozy bed. The street just behind the village and the Windrush is quiet and private. Some people will stop and take photos because the cottage and garden are dreamy. Don't hesitate. Book it.

Charming Inside and Out

My husband and I felt very fortunate to find this property. It's in a perfect location - a very short walk to the center of town, but far enough away that it is quiet and private. The house is well-appointed. It has all the niceties of a modern house with the charm of a 16th century cottage. Be prepared for strollers to stop and look because it stands out as the quaintest cottage (with a beautiful little garden) in the area. Although it's on the small size, there is plenty of storage and we never felt crowded. The ceiling in the living room is low, so tall people beware! In town you can find everything you need for your stay. There are numerous restaurants, a couple grocery stores, etc. Make sure to book restaurants in advance, as the village gets very busy. There are lovely pedestrian paths all over town if you choose to get away from the crowds. The owners and property manager are very friendly and helpful. We felt like we were staying at a friend's house!

Absolutely stunning cottage in beautiful Clapton Row

Everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The key was easily accessible in the key safe and the cottage was spotless and smelt sooo fresh when we arrived. The cottage was so welcoming, such a charming place. Every need was catered for – there were tea, coffee and sugar, kitchen towels and dishwashing materials in the kitchen and the bathroom was stocked with handwash, soap and toilet rolls. The “welcome pack” was absolutely delightful – Cotswold Honey, butter and an artisan loaf from the local ‘Bakery on the Water’ and a little handwritten postcard from Bette and Dawn. The bedrooms were absolutely gorgeous, both with double beds and one with a double bed and a single bed and the beds were the most comfortable that we had slept in. The cottage is situated perfectly to walk into the village, about a 5 minute walk into the centre of the village, which has so much to offer. You can visit the nearby attractions or while away the day sitting on the benches along the side of the River Windrush, the choice is yours. We saw Bette on a couple of occasions and she was a lovely lady who gave us some tips on the best places to visit during our stay. I would say that the only downside to our holiday was the fact that our holiday had to end.

Well Cottage is absolutely charming in every way! Great location, well appointed, and very clean with comfy beds and a great bathroom. (note: the bathtub/shower can be pretty high to step into for older or disabled folks but you can hold on to the sink to help you in--see the photos). About 9 steps to get upstairs. Bourton-on-the-Water is just a lovely village! A lot of other people must think so too--lots of tourists but they are well behaved, mostly families. Would love to stay there again. Just a magical little place to stay!

Cutest cottage in the Cotswolds!

Dawn does not miss a single detail in making this cottage more than special. To mention a few key items that made our stay perfect: the linens (!), very comfortable beds, high end equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture to relax on after long hikes in the beautiful countryside, sweet outdoor sitting area - and Dawn as our host! Home was built in 1600’s and thoughtfully preserved with all the modern touches that made our stay very comfortable. The cottage is less than 2 blocks from town and has its own parking space. Town gets busy but what a quiet oasis to come home to! Dawn, thank you for sharing this rare gem!

A perfect cottage.

Well cottage is delightful and has the benefit of off-street parking - very important in Bourton. It is in a perfect location, being very close to the centre of the village but in a quiet road.The property was spotlessly clean, well-equipped and as such had everything I needed for a relaxing break.The owner is very hands on and nothing was too much trouble. I enjoyed the fruit, cheese and biscuits that were provided!I would definitely recommend this property.

Charming Cottage

Very cute place to stay. There were several issues that came with staying in an older place but we dealt with it since our stay was short. The location was absolutely perfect! The hosts were fantastic. One thing I would like to say is that the ceiling is very low so if you are tall, you will have to crouch while walking around. But since we spent most of our time out sightseeing, it wasn't a big deal. We loved how charming this place was. Also a big plus was having a parking space right in front of the property. There is a small grocery store withing short walking distance where we got some essentials like water and breakfast items. There are also some wonderful restaurants right around the corner. My family loved it and my husband still talks about this cottage to friends.
