Lovely rooms and a good location.

The room was excellent, bed was so comfortable that we slept in on our 1st night, leaving only 1 and a half hours to get ready for a wedding we were going to. The bathroom was lovely, a large shower with rainfall head. Very deep bath that we used on 2nd day. A great menu and restaurants to choose from. The bar was so welcoming with a great whiskey selection for myself and cocktail selection my partner loved. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Our stay Matfen Hall was excellent and I highly recommend. We didn’t use the spa facilities this time but definitely will on our return. Thank you to all the staff who made our stay a pleasure

Great location. Nice hotel. Most of the public spaces were great. Loos were a bit of a mess. Also staff at breakfast were not be helpful when coffee ran out of Milan’s coffee And the chef can’t pouch an egg. Food on Saturday night was great. Staff patient.

My single room was excellent value. I was fine walking up the final flight of stairs but thought that the lack of complete lift access should have been pointed out. With the windows open it was not too hot. I had a good view from the very top of the hotel towards Gateshead. There was not much noisy from the railway during the night. The bed was comfortable. In future I will be booking directly as the hotel no longer included swimming pool access in third party bookings.

The room was good with a comfy bed, clean bathroom room , shower with hot water etc. Mini bar was useful and not stupidly expensive. Could do with some better glasses for drinks. Staff were all friendly and offered luggage service. Breakfast was nice if not spectacular. Decor around the building could do with updating but otherwise a good place. Would go there again.
