Bay View Cottage, Spectacular Sea Views & Terrace
Summary:
You won't just love this old fisherman's cottage for its peaceful location in the harbour bowl and unmatchable sea views, it has also been newly refurbished with gorgeous interiors that'll make you feel at home as soon as you step through the door. The whole property is spread out over three levels, with ample space for groups of couples or families of up to 6. It is also very well-equipped throughout, with a wonderful kitchen, living room with smart TV and two bathrooms. The perfect getaway!
The Space:
On the upper ground floor, you will find the open plan living, kitchen and dining room. Views stretch out for miles ahead, and nothing beats enjoying a morning coffee by the window! The stylish, modern kitchen has everything you need to cook delicious meals. Traditional shaker-style cabinets and a ceramic butler sink give the space character, whilst alongside you will find plenty of mod cons including a coffee machine & cafetiere, electric hob, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. You can eat your meals at the dining table, or up at the breakfast bar if you wish! There's also a high chair for little ones. At the end of a busy day you can relax and enjoy the beautiful harbour and sea views from the lounge. The cottage is also equipped with a range of entertainment such as a Smart TV with complementary Netflix and Disney Plus subscriptions, a large Bluetooth speaker for unwinding to your favourite tunes, as well as a selection of board games, books and children's toys.
Downstairs on the ground floor, you will find two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king size bed as well as stunning sea views which can be enjoyed from the moment you open the blinds in the morning. Whilst next door is a children's bedroom with bunk beds. Lovely, homely touches have been added throughout the property: cushions, throws, house plants and cosy lighting. On the lower ground floor there is a further double bedroom which also enjoys sea views, as well as two bathrooms. Both bathrooms have been renovated to a high standard, with pretty bohemian tiles on the floor and luxurious waterfall head showers. The family bathroom also has a bath, and there is a utility room with a washing machine. From this floor, you are able to access the patio garden with its stunning sea views and table and chair set, as well as the shared direct access to the harbour steps. It's luxurious feel and close proximity to the harbour makes this the perfect bolthole for a coastal weekend or week away!

The Neighborhood:
The property's elevated position on the harbour bowl makes this one of the most enviable spots in Brixham! You're close to all of the town's best amenities, whilst also retaining plenty of peace and privacy. The property has shared direct access to the harbour steps so you can be in the hustle and bustle in just under five minutes.
Brixham is a beautiful harbourside town on South Devon’s English Riviera. Life here has always centred around the harbour, where heritage trawlers and day boats head out to sea for the day’s catch, bringing it home daily to Brixham’s famous Fish Market. A serene coastline, cobbled streets and pastel-coloured fisherman houses are just some of the things that give Brixham so much character. Situated in the southern corner of Torbay, there is a wealth of things to do in the area. Go shopping at some of the independent shops in the town, eat incredible seafood in the restaurants, visit some of the local beaches or set out for a day at sea!
There are several great beaches in the Brixham area. Breakwater Beach (nine minute walk) has won a host of awards for its cleanliness and all-round quality, whilst Shoalstone Beach is where you will also find Shoalstone Seawater Pool, an iconic Art Deco Lido built on a natural rock pool. Within 1.5 miles of the town centre, you will also find St Mary’s Bay, Churston Cove and Fishcombe Cove, which all enjoy a mixture of shingle and sandy beaches, interesting rock formations, clear waters and are much quieter than Brixham’s main beaches. A little further out from town is Elberry Cove, a small pebble beach characterised by wooded hillsides, and the waterside ruins of Lord Churston’s former bathhouse, a romantic 18th-century ruin. It also features on the local Agatha Christie Literary Trail as it was the author’s favourite spot for a swim. Broadsands Beach nearby is also nearby and a fantastic spot for watersports hire, with stand up paddle boards, canoes and kayaks available.
For nature lovers, Berry Head National Nature Reserve offers plenty of opportunities to spot rare and endangered wildlife species, such as dolphins, seals and sea birds, as well as a chance to explore the Napoleonic forts and look around the Geopark visitors’ centre. This internationally-acclaimed heritage site with its magnificent limestone cliffs marks the entrance to the UNESCO Global Geopark (there are only 7 in the world). At the tip of Berry Head is the Berry Head Lighthouse, the UK’s smallest and highest lighthouse at only a few feet high and 191 feet above sea level. This is just a taste of the endless walks to explore along the South Devon coastline. Another great way to view the local wildlife and scenery is from one of the many boat trips available from the harbour.
After a day of exploring the coast, there’s no better place to get cosy and unwind than in one of Brixham’s traditional pubs. We can recommend New Quay Inn (five minutes walk), one of the town’s oldest inns with award-winning local ales and ciders as well as Blue Anchor (five minutes walk), a short step from the harbour. Another popular gastropub in Brixham is The Queens Arms, which boasts highly regarded Sunday carvery. In the heart of England’s Seafood Coast, you can expect the best seafood there is. Head to Rockfish, Beamers or Breakwater Bistro to try the catch of the day or Albero for great coffee! For those who love to cook from home, there are a wide selection of local artisan shops, as well as fresh seafood available from Brixham Fish Market.
Getting Around:
The central location of the property means you won't need a car for much of your stay. The harbourside is just a short walk away, as is Breakwater Beach (nine minute walk). That said, there is no longer a train station in Brixham, so you will need a car to make the most of your stay here and the local area. There is street parking on North View Road with limited spaces. We can recommend other nearby locations if required and area NCP car park tickets are available at cost.
Other Things to Note:
Please note: We have a strict no pet policy for allergy reasons.
The property is primarily set up for families and mature groups or couples. It is by no means a party property.
Interaction with Guests:
We will be available via message, email and phone during your stay. Any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch!
