Firstly the good points. Location, large room, outlook onto the garden was all good.
However, the downsides
1. Despite check in advertised as "from 14:00" , when we arrived the front desk was shuttered and locked so we waited. Luckily a guest came down the stairs and told us check in had to be done at a pub across the busy road from the hotel. This is not stated anywhere on the confirmation document. Anyway, got the key and returned to the hotel. The room was very sparsely furnished but adequate. The bathroom was lovely however there was only one towel for the both of us. So, back across the road to the pub to request another towel. The lady rolled her eyes as if I was being a pest but she said to leave it with her and she would sort it out. When we got back to the hotel after the event we were attending, no second towel materialised. No one was available so we had to share the single towel. Not very helpful . Customer care non existent.
2. There is no hairdryer in the room and the only mirror is in the bathroom. The tea/coffee facility is minimal and no fridge. The curtains were hanging off the rail and let the light in from early morning. No chair to sit on.
This hotel, which could be a nice place to spend one or several days in Brandon:
1. There is no reception desk or anyone to attend your visit, in spite of having booked in and paid for one double bedroom last Wednesday. There is a written notice in a paper asking that in case of an emergency the visitor call two different numbers. None of them replied or returned the call.
2. After having tried to get someone at least on the phone, we decided to go out and look for another hotel. In front of the Brandon house there is a Ram hotel that we went to and asked for a room to stay that day. The bar attendant said that she could get us a room for £75 and when I was going to pay, I told the attendant lady that we had had a terrible experience with Brandon House and Hotel, and she replied that it was the place where we would be staying! Surprisingly, she told my husband that she had been trying to call my number but she could not get through. Such is not true because I looked at my phone at there was not any call received.
3. We decided to accept a room then at Brandon house for which she gave us a key for room No. 101. A very nice, wide and spacious room with beautiful view to the gardens, but with a terrible maintenance because the smell was unbearable, and the heater was not turned on. My husband went again to Ram hotel to complain and the lady gave him a new key for room 107. A smaller place, but also no heater on, no wi-fi service, and only one towel for 2 people. No reply at al
