While the unit was spacious, as described, and beneficially located within walking distance to food and driving distance to the universities, the host fell far short of expectations, failing to respond to repeated message attempts via Vrbo. (The host promised an inflatable mattress for one of our family members, but, despite acknowledging reminders, failed to make it available and failed to respond to repeated messages seeking assistance. Our family member resorted to sleeping on a small couch.) Upon arrival, we discovered ants on the kitchen island infesting any snacks left there, and ultimately finding their way into one of our suitcases. Other less significant issues: while there were extra pillows, there were no pillow cases or sheets for our family member sleeping on the couch; there was only enough coffee for 3 cups the first morning; the fire alarm outside one of the bathrooms triggered after someone took a shower and, apparently, steam escaped after a shower; and the thermostat somehow lowered its setting in the middle of the night despite being set to a comfortable level while my family was awake (there were no extra blankets).

Great place for business in the city

Clean, professional, great for 2 colleagues travelling for work to Boston. Good cafes near buy, close to Cambridge for work!

The photos are a misleading, this is a basement apartment under 2 story house, with a family above

On arrival, we are almost immediately met with children bouncing a ball and pounding overhead, then running and more ball bouncing. LOUD. I texted the owner, he said there is a family that live upstairs. No kidding… Each morning, kids get up, pounding begins around about 6:30am. Promptly at 7am road construction begins in front of the house. On the 3rd morning at 6am, fire alarms start blaring. (This clearly had been an issue before). I had to remove them from the ceiling, (I notified the owner for safety’s sake) Then kids and then the construction again. NIGHTMARE. Another note to the owner, who claimed he disclosed about the family above. NO and I have every single part of the VRBO advertisement & msgs screen shot. He said the construction has been going on “forever”. He should have disclosed construction & kids, providing an opportunity to cancel. This doesn’t cover how dirty the living room pillows, couch & afghan were. Morning day 3, we’d had enough & left. Did he “HAVE” to do a refund? NO, but he SHOULD have let us know about the construction, as it had been going on “forever” and he was well aware of the children that live above. I would never have booked this unit had I known. I still cleaned unit as required. I use VRBO all the time, I have never had such an experience. We have one set for June 2024. That host contacted me to let me know they are renovating the master bath & wanted to know if their changes would affect me. That is a great host!

Fall Foliage Trip

We ended our 2 week New England trip with a few days in Boston. This location was a great spot with easy access to public transit. We went to downtown every day. The street was torn up and noise from the construction started early in the morning - unfortunate. The layout of this VRBO was perfect for 2 couples.

Fantastic Spot

We rented this for the Boston Marathon and it was perfect for us and one other couple. We had a rental car so it was great to come back to a quieter part of town that still had great restaurants, Whole Foods, etc yet a lot less congestion. Everything was great and I would absolutely stay here again. The one note is that it is a 1st floor unit, and the unit above us had 3 small children that woke up at 6am everyday, which meant we did too. Overall a great rental!
