About this property
Suite 5, Quick Stroll to Downtown
Black Mountain Lodge has five units, each with its own private entrance. Unit 5 is a small, 189-square-foot efficiency apartment located on the far right side of the front porch. Please note that steps lead up to the porch.
The apartment has a double bed, kitchen, and living area combined in one cheerful room, with a small adjoining private bathroom. It includes everything you need for cooking, dining, and sleeping.
Amenities include a smart TV, where you can sign in to your streaming subscriptions, high speed internet, and a kitchen with a drip coffee maker.
The double bed accommodates up to two guests. Due to fire-zoning regulations, cots and air mattresses are not permitted on the floor.
This home is more than 100 years old and is surrounded by large, mature trees. Because of this natural setting, insects may occasionally find their way indoors.
This is a non-smoking and non-vaping property, inside and outside.
Pets are welcome. If you bring one, please be considerate of the other guests in the building. Dogs must remain on a leash at all times and must be crated if left alone. Please do not bring a dog that will bark while you are away.
For everyone’s comfort, this is a non-smoking, non-vaping property. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere inside or outside the property.
Please note that we do not have a front desk or concierge, so your stay will require a little self-sufficiency. We’re happy to help with questions or concerns during reasonable hours, but we are not a corporation and do not have staff available 24 hours a day.
Self check-in is available anytime after 4:00 p.m. You may check out anytime before 10:00 a.m. on your departure day.
This is a very old home with gas furnaces for heat and window air-conditioning units. Because it is a shared building, you may occasionally hear neighboring guests.
We kindly ask all guests to be considerate of one another. If you are traveling with a pet, please do not bring a dog that will bark and disturb others in the house.
Our address is available before booking so you can confirm that the location works for your plans: 33 Vance Avenue, Black Mountain, NC.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer luggage storage.
For the safety of our guests and our home, we’re unable to accept third-party bookings.

Location was perfect for exploring all Black Mountain has to offer within walking distance! Loved the front porch with swing and view of the mountains.
I really enjoyed my stay here! The space was incredibly cozy, very clean, and had everything I needed as a solo traveler. The kitchen was especially well stocked with clean utensils, coffee, and all the basics I needed during my stay.
I also really appreciated the Roku TV. It worked great and made it so easy to access all of my favorite series in the evenings. Being able to settle in and watch something familiar at night added even more to the cozy, comfortable feeling of the space.
One of my favorite things was the porch with the table and chairs. It felt semi-private and became part of my morning routine—I loved waking up and having my coffee out there each morning.
The double bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I slept very well. I also experienced no issues at all with insects during my stay.
Overall, this was such a comfortable, clean, and thoughtfully equipped place to stay. It felt very welcoming, and I would absolutely recommend it, especially to someone traveling on their own.
My husband and I made an impromptu decision on Thanksgiving day to take a weekend trip to Black Mountain the following day and found Suite 5! Suite 5 is part of a large, renovated house and is so close to the main streets of Black Mountain, just a short walk to shops and restaurants...it is a great location! The room is fully equipped with all you need (stove, microwave, fridge, dishes etc) and has a very generous supply of coffee and tea but it's main draw is its proximity to the town and its reasonable price. If you're wondering on the size of the room, we are average sized people and didn't feel cramped at all and we loved it (we would definitely return to Suite D). The owners are so helpful and kind and will bend over backwards for you. I highly recommend this little space!
Lovely small studio fully equipped and comfy! Very short walk to downtown and no need to drive anywhere if you want to explore Black Mountain! Would definitely stay here again!
The location was perfect! You can walk around the corner to the bar and food trucks for dinner. There’s also a cute little bakery within walking distance.
This is 20 minutes minimum from Asheville, so a car is needed. It’s a converted large home, so it has rustic charm. Easy walk into downtown Black Mountain, as well as access to highway 40. Great if you want to do hiking, make some meals and do Asheville.
Definitely a great location for walking to downtown, if you don’t mind a slope or two, that aren’t bad. Great shops and restaurants! My husband and I like to sleep on double bed, but just know one person has to climb in and out or you both get up for nighttime bathroom trips:). Very quiet.
This room was perfect for us! Comfortable and quiet! The kitchen has all of the appliances and gadgets you need. . It's a short walk to town, for dinner, drinks and music. We saw a great 4th fireworks show. I would definitely book this room again!
Although small, the room was comfortable and charming and had everything we needed. The kitchen is clean and well stocked (with coffee!). The bathroom has a good shower. There’s a private table and two chairs outside on the front porch. (Great place to drink your morning coffee!) It's an easy walk to downtown stores, restaurants, breweries, etc. Note this is an older house, but it’s been nicely restored.

Excellent location. Very walkable to all the downtown areas. Outside lighting could be improved as it was very dark coming up the stairs. Only one small automatic light on the entrance of the stair area was working. The unit was very clean and cozy and you could actually cook a nice meal in the kitchen. Private outside deck was large and a place we enjoyed in the mornings and afternoons. The only caveat was there were only two towels, one hand towel, and one washcloth for the both of us to share all weekend. Also, the bed was very comfortable to sleep on. We would stay there again but I would bring a few towels and washcloths next time so we could have extra.
