The view in the pictures is not remotely close to the reality. No water anywhere. Just rubble, dead branches, beached docks, etc. Was told by owner “not within her control and essentially not her problem”. I replied the pictures and verbiage you advertise make her liable. They were clearly old and I as an out of Rosner have no idea about local water levels. I offered to check out next day and split difference as an equitable solution. She would not concede and I was told to contact VRBO (possibly after she reviewed her liability and and VRBOs commission ). After an hour with them, they stood by the owner. Apparently, the only deal breaker in this situation is if property is grossly missing a room of property “not as described”. VRBO takes no liability nor enforcement. I understand this is capitalism. But there was time when integrity meant something. This ad is clearly designed to bait and switch and capture your money. You could legitimately put any photo you want of any property and if you have the same number of bedrooms you advertise, you’re good to go and can take advantage of people however you want. The owner felt since other resorts don’t update photos, she didn’t have to. That is such a flawed argument, one could laugh. Entitled are we? To be clear, the unit itself was fine, but not what we would have booked if the photos and descriptions were accurate. The owner will prob reply that’s she sorry we feel this way in some back-handed constructive manner or with victimized verbiage, but as a customer, I want all the prospective shoppers to know, she would not work this out with me at any professional level, was misleading about the view, VRBO wouldn’t intervene, and finally you have other, better options for your hard earned dollar. Go elsewhere!!
