Had a great stay at the Calf Shed even during a pandemic. It's about a 40 minute walk to Alston which has a few pubs and a Co-op for the essentials. It's an ideal spot to explore Cumbria. The Calf Shed is perfect for a couple, it was spotlessly clean, had sufficient cutlery and crockery and the owners were very friendly. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We had a lovely time at Harbut law cottages Alston , Tom and Susan the owners made us feel very welcome and were always on hand if we needed anything . We stayed in the Calf shed which was the smallest of the 4 cottages but was very comfortable and very clean , I would recommend staying at this friendly homely site  Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Very quiet location not far from a lovely little village, the cottage was clean and well laid out, the hot tub was very nice after walking all day. You will need a car and be prepared to travel a little to get to tourist attractions and hot spots. The hosts where magnificent very welcoming and gave good advice on little hidden gems. Would recommend and one day would like to return. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Fabulous cottage just right for two. Greatocation for exploring the surrounding countryside. Tom and Sue, our hosts, were great. The sort of neighbours you want, there when you need them but not intrusive. Definitely recommend this place and will visit again

The Calf Shed was lovely. Ideal for two adults. Everything you need is there. The area is a dark sky so no light pollution. Beautiful area very quiet. locals and our hosts Susan and Tom was so welcoming. Be prepared to drive on winding roads, it takes a long time to get anywhere.

We had a lovely visit to the calf shed. It's cosey and the owners are lovely, having milk, tea, coffee and biscuits for our arrival. The only complaint I have is that even though it is meant for two people the downstairs space could be laid out better. As people who like to walk when coming back there is only a very small two seater sofa and a rub chair. Not the the most comfy for costing up after a long walk. The cooker is very slow, we chose to cook two nights of our three. The bed was very comfy and the shower was hot and power was fine. Also extra things where on hand like towels and toilet rolls. Lovely area to explore and we would stay again. We didn't use the hot tub as it was a bit fresh and my partner felt a little overlooked to relax.
