We really enjoyed our stay in Alnwick and the location of the cottage was first class. However the outside of the building, windows in particular left us a little confused as we mistook it for a derelict building and the back courtyard was not a place you would want to sit in. We had everything we needed in the cottage itself and the welcome basket was indeed welcome. Bedding and towels were good too. The parking permit was essential as the town was very busy.It was a very good base to visit the many locations around that we did but maybe the weekend was not the best time to do so as everywhere was packed with people and dogs.Alnwick itself is a lovely town with plenty of places to eat shop and drink but it has a big problem with dog poo on the streets. Beware where you step.
