"Nice place to stay, but rather hilly in places. Staff pleasant, breakfast good but few options for vegans. Very nice room but if you struggle to get around ensure you request a ground floor room."
"The staff was exceptionally professional, helpful, and kind. Very nice facility with a lovely garden in the back and very comfortable common rooms. Excellent breakfast with lots of variety. We ate several evening meals here and they were as good as any restaurant in the area. The Chef works very hard to optimize flavor and presentation. The location is almost adjacent to Victor Hugo‘s house. It was a warm day during our first evening and the hotel was able to supply us with a fan. If you’re a senior, the climb to the hotel can be tedious. Other than that, the location is good with quick access to the bus station. We really enjoyed this hotel!"
"Guernsey is a lovely island and everyone was helpful including hotel staff. This is a lovely hotel in a prime location.
However, it is unfortunate that there is no air conditioning in the rooms. The week I stayed was a week with unseasonably hot weather, and it was very warm in the rooms. A fan and a window do not give enough fresh air during times of hotter weather. Regardless of the weather, this should be considered for future use.
Apart from this, the hotel was lovely and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. I would hope to return in the future."
"We had a few days here whilst we explored Guernsey. Ours was an upper garden room so we were at the top of the site with a bit of a slope down to the main hotel for breakfast. This wasn't a problem as we did get a message beforehand to warn us and give us the opportunity to change our booking if needed. The other downside to our room was that it faced onto the main road that runs past the hotel. Traffic noise was quite noticeable during the day but thankfully reasonably quiet at night. Would recommend you request a quiet room if you are a light sleeper.
Breakfast selection was good though the service on the Sunday morning was slow due to a low number of staff on duty. There are 2 restaurants on site but if you wanted somewhere cheaper then there was just one pub quite a walk away. Otherwise you would have needed to get transport. The walk down to the bay was lovely and the cafe at the bottom had a good range of choices. We used the buses to get around and they are good value for money.
Regrettably, the swimming pool was out of order when we arrived. Again, we did get a message beforehand to warn us and there were alternative arrangements at another hotel which was a fair distance away.
Finally, we were a bit disappointed that the TV in our room used a very old Sky HD box and only had SCART connections. The Sky box was glitchy and the lack of HDMI connections was a surprise. ITs more routine now to have Smart TVs so this setup is quite antiquated."
"The staff were friendly and helpful, eager to assist with a few small requests I had.
I found it be peaceful, I was at the rear of the property, and particularly liked the second door into the room, which I'm shielded me from any hallway activity.
Pool was lovely, and breakfast excellent. Friday, live music :-)"
"Hotel has a large breakfast menu. It’s possible to have a lunch and dinner as well. Meals are delicious and they’ve a large drinks list too. If you want to explore local gins, cider etc. Staff are always very helpful and supportive. Customer service is excellent and they want to ensure that meals, drinks etc are to your requirements.
We enjoyed a spa as well. It was refreshing to go swimming and spent time in a Jacuzzi after sightseeing all day. I’d recommend the spa especially if you walk a lot because it seems to help with tired feet.
We also spent time in a large hotel garden. It’s a nice and quiet spot to relax. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed the heatwave.
Hotel is not far from bars and restaurants and buzzing Guernsey atmosphere. It’s also possible to book a taxi if not keen to walk or take a bus. Reception does book a taxi if requested.
I’d recommend this hotel because it has a lot to offer. Room is a good size and we also spent time in a balcony."
