Ferry Cottage, Orford, Spacious family home by the sea
A stone's throw from the Quay at Orford, Ferry Cottage has welcomed families to the coast at Suffolk for many years. With a large, private garden and off-street parking - take your boat, and bikes, and explore the delightful county. Located just before the entrance to the Quay in Orford, Ferry Cottage offers comfortable, relaxed and homely accommodation for 6. It has all the ingredients you need for a holiday by the sea for a family or a group of friends.
The space Perfect for both summer and winter holidays; the open fire and full central heating makes for cosy evenings in and the lovely garden with garden furniture and BBQ is the ideal spot for you to relax in the summer.
Another bonus is the generous sized conservatory - a lovely place to sit and read a magazine or book (some provided by the owner), play a board game or enjoy a glass of wine. Here too you can also sit and enjoy looking out over the delightful, private, lawned garden.
Ground Floor
The front door opens into the sitting room, where there are sofas, armchairs, an open fire, book shelves with games, toys and books, TV and DVD player.
From the sitting room, French doors lead you through to the conservatory. This is a beautiful sunbathed room with cane furniture and leads directly into the fantastic garden.
A door from the sitting room takes you directly through to the dining room, where there is a table and seating for up to 6. This connects directly with the well-equipped kitchen which features a table with seating for 4, oven, American style fridge freezer, dish washer, kettle and toaster.
There is a back door from the kitchen which leads to a utility room with washing-machine, dryer, sink and loo and direct access to the garden.
From the sitting room stairs lead upstairs to a landing.
The first bedroom on the left is a twin bedroom, with fitted cupboards and a sink.
The second bedroom has 1 double bed, chest of drawers and bedside table. The master bedroom is to the rear of the property overlooking the garden with a king-sized bed, fitted wardrobes and dressing table and has beautiful views over Orford town and to the River Ore.
Next to the master bedroom, is a shower room with shower, toilet and basin. The main bathroom is located to the right of the stairs, with bath, toilet, basin, and heated towel rail.
This charming English country garden offers privacy and is one of the biggest in Orford. It is mainly laid to lawn and surrounded by herbaceous borders and roses.
There is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy, with comfortable garden furniture, including table, chairs and a Weber bbq.
In front of the house is a large tarmac driveway with ample off road parking for three cars.
Guest access The whole property is available to rent. Other things to note Dogs: The garden is fenced and we are very happy to accept well behaved dogs. We cannot guarantee that the garden is dog proof as there may be some holes and we do ask owners to make sure that dogs do not go on the furniture or upstairs.
Details about ORFORD Perhaps one of the most attractive coastal villages on the East Coast, Orford retains a fascinating 12th Century Castle and Church. With a small but bespoke selection of local shops to provide your everyday provisions, craft shops, excellent restaurants and traditional pubs, Orford gives you a chance to leave the car at home. There is much to see and do at the Quay throughout the year - boat trips to Havergate Island and Orford Ness, sailing of small crafts and yachts, crabbing and fishing.
On the banks of the Ore, Orford is protected from the sea by a fascinating shingle bank, Orford Ness, which runs from Aldeburgh to the sea. Accessible by ferry, Orford Ness is now managed by the National Trust; here you can find out about this strange and ever changing landscape, the many ground nesting and sea birds nesting here or trace the mysterious history of the area's war time occupation both for secret development of radar and munitions and in the defence of Britain. From Orford Quay one can take a boat trip to Havergate Island, the first RSPB reserve and home of the Avocet.
Orford is within easy access of both Snape and the Snape Maltings Concert Hall and the seaside town of Aldeburgh, where the Aldeburgh Festival began life some fifty years ago.
