A character historic pub in a nice rural location, although roads are very Devon and narrow in places! Very welcoming and friendly staff. Good food and service with a selection of beers with real ale under gravity from the cask. Very popular with diners on a Saturday night. Room reflected the nature of the property but was clean and comfy. Good selection and quality for breakfast. Went with trad English but kippers and salmon on offer.

Lovely rural location. Breakfast could have been improved by having cool orange juice instead of warm. A window to open for fresh air and help get rid of the flies, napkins provided and ensure that the menu options actually available. Otherwise everything else was good

Unfortunately they forgot to put cups/mugs but there was coffee just nothing to drink it in. Alas there was a hairdryer diffuser in the drawer but not the rest of the hairdryer and the towels looked like they had been used as dust sheets whilst decorating. Brilliant staff, very good breakfast but no parking.

All of the staff are so friendly and welcoming. This is the third time we have stayed at the , " Duke of York". The rooms are always clean and well supplied and wonderfully quirky. The food is exquisite, good suppliers and a talented chef make any meal you order an absolute delight. The choice of beers and ciders definately hit the spot and are excellently kept. We will, without question, be looking to return for more stays regardless of the season because any time of year is great here.
