Sixteen family members used Walking Bear as base camp for 10 days in NW Montana. Great location - easy to get to Whitefish, Kalispell, Big Fork, Flathead Lake, Whitefish Lake, and Glacier. House had just about everything we could have needed and the hot tube and large backyard were put to good use.
We spent time in glacier after getting married on Flathead Lake and stayed at Lu Ann’s beautiful cabin afterwards with family. It was beautiful and we enjoyed the large kitchen and spending time around the fire pit.
A group of 17 family members, ages 9 months to 88 years old, all enjoyed our stay! The home is conveniently located near Glacier’s west entrance and equipped with amenities that suit every age!
Beautiful home to accommodate guests from ages 15 to 80! Close to Glacier National Park and the town of Whitefish gave us many options after a day of hiking. A lovely spot to enjoy Montana.
Pictures don’t do this beautiful cabin justice. It is conveniently located near Whitefish grocery stores and downtown. Ski slopes are just 20 minutes away. We have fallen in love with Montana and would certainly like to stay here again.
Everything was great from the reservation to check out. Luanne was particularly nice to work with-very responsive and accommodating. Beautiful location and home.

Really nice floor plan for multi family groups. Good balance of private space and gathering spaces. Several good outdoor sitting and gathering spaces. Functional spacious kitchen with two separate sink stations. Very friendly and responsive hosts.
Our wedding party stayed here for our glacier national park wedding. The house was perfect for us! So much room for everyone to have their own space for down time and a beautiful backyard for hanging out as well. The house is so beautiful. Highly recommend this house for your large groups!
We stayed for a ski trip with 3 families total. 11 kids. Plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen was so well stocked to cook for our large group. LuAnn and Steve were both great, and very responsive and helpful. We extended our stay one night because of weather and LuAnn was amazing about it. Highly recommend this property. Would be a wonderful place in the summer also.
Our group of nine had a wonderful stay at the lodge. It was very clean (and I am particular). The hosts were responsive, accommodating, and friendly! From the large kitchen space, to the outdoor decks, hot pool, and fire pit, it was all lovely. The beds were comfortable and we all had enough space to spread out at night. It was the BEST retreat to come back to after a day of adventures! We all highly recommend and want to come back soon!
We stayed for our elopement to GNP with our 8 family members. Lu Ann was so accommodating and allowed us to have a private chef come in to do our dinner-10 of us sat comfortably at the dining room table. Plenty of space for everyone to spread out over the week and a beautiful yard with games and a hot tub. We had an amazing time and the home couldn't have been better.
LuAnn was incredible! She was responsive and helpful! We had a large family gathering and used both properties. The hinges were beautiful and stocked with everything we needed! Property is peaceful, quiet and relaxing! We have already recommended the homes to other family members! You will not be disappointed with this home!!
We are a large family of 14. The house had plenty of space to accommodate us all. The grandkids loved the upstairs bedroom with 6 beds and the outside lawn area for them to play. Lu Ann was an awesome host and replied in a timely manner with answers to my questions. The house did not disappoint, when in the area again we will definitely book.
There were 12 of us staying in this house and it suited us well. Plenty of room to move about, beds were good, hot tub was good, fire pit area was nice at night. Convenient to Glacier National Park, Whitefish and Kalispell (airport). The two kitchens were a nice feature; would have been nice to have more chairs around the long table but we were able to bring more chairs up from downstairs. Keep in mind, you definitely will need a vehicle when you stay here. All in all we had a good time. Montana is beautiful!
We booked the house for our entire family- 8 adults & 7 kids. House was clean and very well equipped. Kitchen was super roomy and well stocked for such a large group. Rooms were spread out and allowed us not to be on top of us. The large bedroom with 6 twin beds was perfect for for all the kids! House was private and well located. 30 minutes to Glacier National Park. Close to shopping and restaurants. Saw wildlife in the yard.
Our group of family friends decided to make a return trip to Glacier National Park. We needed a place that could accommodate 17 adults. This rustic home was perfect. It is well appointed with everything we could possibly need for a weeks’ stay-even bear spray for our hikes. :) The only issue is that the main level is the only one that can be temperature regulated.- making both the upstairs and downstairs a bit warm and stuffy. If we ever return to the area with a large group, we would definitely stay here again.
Our big group of 16 stayed at Walking Bear Lodge for a week and it felt magical from the moment we arrived. Nestled in what felt like our own little forest just off the main road, the beautiful log cabin provided the perfect combination of rustic Montana charm and modern comfort for our four extended families. The house itself is spacious, strategically built for separate dwellings but also designed for intentional gatherings. We cooked meals together in the two kitchens and were able to keep one dedicated gluten free for our celiac family members. Sitting around the stone fireplace in the main living room while we planned our days of hiking to Glacier, playing games, or watching movies was a comforting joy and the perfect spot to gather. There was always room for everyone to relax, play, and reconnect, whether around the fireplace, the grand kitchen table, the front deck, hot tub, or the outdoor fire pit. We had everything we needed and would definitely return for another stay!
Our stay at this cabin made for a wonderful destination for our little family reunion for all that attended. Everyone had an incredible and memorable time. Upon arrival, we just happened to show up in time to meet our host in person, LuAnn... she's a really sweet gal with a wonderful sense of humor. It was our pleasure to meet you, LuAnn!The cabin is warm and inviting with all of the wood fixtures, decor, and amenities. There was never a dull moment during our stay. Everyone always had something to do.As for nearby activities, the list is lengthy... nearby lakes, shops, forest roller-coaster, alpine slides, zip-lines, scenic lifts, hiking, mountain summits, and Glacier National Park kept us all busy wanting more. But it was the relaxing times at the cabin just sitting by the fire, playing games together, or chit-chatting on one of the various porches or rooms was always enjoyable. Many thanks for all of the fond memories we took with us!Chris and Patricia
First of all, this location is excellent. A 5 mile drive to Safeway/downtown Whitefish and 35-40 minutes to Glacier National Park. Lots of parking and a mud room off the lot with bear spray, etc. we wanted a home base for both outdoor adventures and town/shopping/dining so this was excellent for a large party with a range of interests. The property is the best equipped we have stayed in, from kitchenware to cleaning supplies to bedding, with strong wifi. This incudes outdoor equipment like corn hole and a weber grill, with a lawn big enough to practice fly casting. The setup has numerous balconies and a large communal area, but also features up & down kitchens/laundry and private suites that allow a balance of privacy and gathering. We blended active young adults, retirees, toddlers and people just meeting one another comfortably. Finally, the host was terrific. I don’t think we ever waited 15 minutes for a reply and check in & out was easy and flexible. LuAnn was super supportive.
There is so much to rave about. The house is 10 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from Whitefish with loads of stores. The 3 porches were a gift. The “morning” porch was where the early risers took their coffee in the sunlight. Cornhole and frisbee were constantly in play in the evening. The 6 late teens loved their room and used the hot tub most nights. What we found amazing was that sound did not travel and the big kids didn’t keep us up. The kitchens were well stocked with dishes and cutlery and dishwashers. We were provided with hand soap, laundry detergent , dishwasher pellets and garbage bags and lots more. The huge lawn was made for frisbee and yoga. Several family members went on long runs and easily found a network of trails. LuAnn was easily contacted with our questions .
