Every bit as magical as you would expect

We were lucky enough to stay at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo for a night following a 2 week trip driving around Italy with our family, which included a 4-year-old. They happened to open early for the season this year and we completely fell in love with the place. While the setting is legendary and beautiful, it's the staff that makes it a 5-star experience. They're wonderful and kind and patient and incredibly good humored. And while I don't consider all 5-star hotels to be family friendly, this one absolutely was. Between constant presents and treats and a candy bar and an indoor pool for the chillier weather, my daughter loved it. We only had a chance to eat at a couple of the restaurants (lunch by the water and dinner at the more casual location), but honestly the most magical experience was breakfast. I think we all audibly gasped when we walked into the gorgeous room that really took the buffet experience to another level. I assure you we'll be back, but next time for at least a week!

The hotel is a beautiful property but certainly it’s showing its age as even the room key is truly a room key and not a key card. I guess it’s just the nostalgia of an older hotel. There is also very limited dining in surrounding area but the restaurant in the hotel is great. Due its location, there is little to sometimes no uber or taxi available hence it can be pricey getting a car via the concierge. From the moment you arrive, the porter and the bell men are very friendly. As you accent the elevator to the second story, you are greeted with a grand staircase and the front desk are to the left hand side who are also very friendly. It’s certainly has the feel of the RITZ Paris without the multi-million dollar makeover. The overall experience was wonderful and the rooms are well appointed with all the expected amenities which one comes to expect from a true 5 star hotel. I think one thing is missing is maybe a hotel car which would allow guests to get to surrounding restaurants (within a 5 miles radius) or the boat terminal which is only a 15 min walk, but it would certainly make the lives of their patrons a lot easier.

A beautiful hotel . Expensive . Very noisy . We stayed in a corner room 320. DONT ask for a roadside room . The bins woke us up most mornings before dawn . The road is very busy. Be prepared if you’re a lite sleeper ! Delicious breakfast . Great service . Food uninspiring (except breakfast). No in room tea/coffee facilities. No ability to borrow an iron and ironing board . They only offer a pressing service which is annoying .

Very disappointing stay considering paying up to Euro 1500/ ++ per night F&B - 2 out of 3 restaurants are booked for event and not available to guest - Food quality is subpar (from breakfast to dinner) Spa - Spa is fully booked for the entire weekend (no slots reserved for in house guests), we asked during booking whether spa needs to be book ahead and was assured availability upon arrival - Heated pool temperature is lukewarm at most Room - Sound proof in bedroom is very poor, you can hear every car passing from the street to other rooms closing or opening their electric curtains - Size is small compare to other top tier hotels in Como
