Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. I'll break down my review into a few sections: our group (to discuss what we needed), what we loved, and what we encourage the owners to consider updating.
I had a family of 14 people rent out this cabin over Easter weekend. We had 10 adults and 14 kids (2, 5, 6 and 8). We really wanted a cabin big enough for the 5 families to have their own room, so the space was great and accommodated all of us well. Cathy was very responsive to all my questions along the way and was flexible about adding one more night to our stay last minute.
The location was so great. The town of Townsend has neat shops and a short little trail that's accessible from the cabin. Relatively close to a lot of gems and the view of the mountains was absolutely breathtaking (although there is a highway that sort of interrupts the beauty of mother nature that you can see from the cabin). We enjoyed the firepit and the hot tub. The kitchen is beautifully stocked with everything you need (tons of plates, glasses, silverware, etc). We cooked several meals and even baked a few sweets. We were able to drive to Gatlinburg as well as the Smoky Mountains National Park. A few of us even went to Dollywood. Having a washer and dryer was amazing as well as several linens for a group our size.
With all that being said, the cabin is in need of many improvements. To begin with, some of our bathrooms could have been cleaner and we couldn't really tell if the bathroom on the first floor was leaking. My mother's sheets seemed unwashed. The grill was filthy and all the picnic tables were not wiped down and were extremely dirty (we did call the office about this and they apologized). Some of the furniture outside were unstable (wooden benches and rocking chairs seemed to be falling apart and unsafe to even have out). The doors were a nightmare as many of them didn't close. Some of the beds had dips and humps in them and were incredibly uncomfortable. The kitchen sink didn't drain well.
Other misc. items just for the next group renting this cabin: The foosball table was great, but we were playing with table tennis balls which doesn't do the game any sort of justice. The pool sticks are crooked and the table seemed unstable (really worn out). Some of the shower curtains had stains and the dishwasher left some residue on the dishes. We couldn't find the iron.
I would recommend cautiously. It's obvious that this place is constantly being booked.
