  • Kai Famille is a private hillside cottage on our family’s property in Dominica, surrounded by fruit trees and tropical plants with sweeping Caribbean Sea views. A peaceful sanctuary built with love, it’s perfect to relax, recharge, and connect with nature. Enjoy breezes, birdsong, and stunning sunsets. Close to waterfalls, beaches, and local spots, yet tucked away for quiet. Ideal for couples, families, or groups with our second cottage, Kai Karma.

    Kai Famille, the cottage is complete with everything you need for a magical stay on the island of Dominica. The bright and airy full kitchen is fully equipped with everything except the groceries, including a french press, water kettle, toaster oven, and all the things to cook on the gas stove. The deck is perfect for all activities including lounging, yoga, relaxation, and a swing on our macrame swing. There are two bedrooms, each with a queen size beds, comfortable mattress, sleepy pillows, and quality linens. The bathroom is also light and airy and includes a shower with a window that opens to the beautiful mountains and has access to our outdoor shower. Choose to use the a/c in the main living area or open the windows for a beautiful island breeze. Beach towels and coolers will help you prepare for adventure.

    The entire home is available to you and sits on our family property. Kai Famille is private but we are here if you need anything including help picking fruit or suggestions of day trips. We can also help arrange a private chef, catered meals, and helping stock your kitchen.

    If you need more space, consider renting both of our cottages: Kai Famille and Kai Karma. Inquire for more information.

    We have a Subaru Crosstek that can be rented separately for $75 US dollars per day or we can recommend an island guide. We can also provide transport from/to the airport. If you require a longer rental, we can discuss rates. All drivers are required to obtain a temporary Dominica drivers license.

    We have numerous fruit trees on the property, feel free to indulge while they are in season. :)

    Our other cottage, Kai Karma, is available for larger groups. If you need four bedrooms, we can make this happen!

Truly AMAZING! This was our first time using going through VBRO and will diffidently do it again. This house is in a spectacular area, up on a hill which provides a beautiful view and sunset. The house has everything you could need while on vacation allowing you to just kick back and relax. The host was very responsive and friendly. There was air conditioning in all rooms, however we hardly had to use it. The breeze that came through with all the windows open was perfect. The bed in the front room was soft and the back room had a more firm bed so we had an option. My husband and I chose the front room which worked out for us. We cooked several days during our 9 days on the island, and had everything we needed. It was a little difficult locating the house upon arrival, however Kris and Nathan were very quick to respond and direct us to the house. This is a place we will absolutely share with family and friends and will not forget about this beautiful island ever.

Fabulous location, stunning views, and beautifully designed and equipped home! We would return in a heartbeat! The kitchen was very well equipped, making meal preparation very easy; the outdoor shower is a great feature, the patio with very comfortable seating lovely and the home overall very clean and comfortable. The location is fabulous - close to town and beaches, but in a quiet and lovely neighborhood just minutes away. We were thrilled!

Definitiv einer der besten Unterkünfte auf Dominica!Ein unglaublicher schöner weiter Blick auf Natur und Meer.Völlig ungestört in kompletter Ruhe.Man sieht und hört den ganzen Tag nur die Geräusche der Natur.Das Klima ist immer angenehm, da die Villas höher gelegen sind.Die Ausstattung des und besonders die Schlafzimmer und Betten sind ein Traum.Es fehlt an nichts!Klare Empfehlung für Dominica !Wenn Dominica, dann hier!

Cottage: delightful. Hosts: super. Setting: idyllic. Photos accurate, but can’t do justice to the setting. There are 4 small cottages in a garden enclave far up the mountainside, about 15 minutes from Portsmouth. So peaceful! Shady porch, cool breezes. We hardly ever used AC. Few bugs. Beds were good; place was clean; kitchen was well equipped. Toaster oven, but no microwave. Coffee maker is a French press. Both American (110V) and British-style (220V) outlets. Bottled water recommended, but don’t buy it; just visit the spring up the mountain! The driveway is steep and rough, but regular cars handled it. (We rented a Subaru Crosstrek from the local host.) Great for kids. When we were there, little ones from the neighboring cottages played freely in the garden. However, there is nothing in walking distance but lovely countryside, so tell restless teens to take a hike, literally! Accessibility: The area around the cottage is steeply sloped. There are 4-5 steps up from the driveway, no stairs inside. Step-in shower, no grab bars. Kristin, who books the properties, and Nathan, the local host, were great. We peppered Nathan with questions/requests. He was very responsive. He can provide transportation to/from the cottage when you arrive/depart. He’s a great tour guide too. While we were there, a personal chef was staying in the cottage behind us. Her food was much better, and more reasonably priced, than local restaurants. If she’s there, have her cook a dinner or two for you.
