Everything about our short stay was lovely. The town was very quiet while we were there - our stay was primarily to visit the castle ruins (which we recommend!). Very charming town. The inn was very relaxing and we enjoyed the on-site onsen, and the excellent Japanese breakfast. The room was WONDERFUL. We loved the traditional architecture-with modern amenities-and the room was clean and had very comfortable and quiet. The bathroom was modern and the complimentary drinks in the mini-bar area...

If you’re chasing something truly unique in Japan, skip the big cities for a night and stay in Fukusaki — a small town quietly famous for its yokai folklore. And if you do, there’s one stay that absolutely makes the experience unforgettable. The space itself is incredibly homey. You get that instant exhale when you walk in—like you’ve arrived somewhere safe after a long journey. It’s clean, thoughtfully arranged, and full of little details that make it feel personal rather than staged. But what...

This was our first stay at a rhyokan (spelling!)and we were blown away by the beauty, The comfort (personally I felt sleeping on tatami mats on a futon perfect). The attentive service was welcoming and spot on. We ate breakfast and dinner here and the local food was abundant, gorgeously presented and flavorful. We had a room with a private Onsen on a deck. Highly recommend. This was a unique, peak experience and I am a seasoned traveler. Do it.

Lovely staff that helped us look up times for trains and buses to Takeda Castle Ruins. As well as helped us getting a taxi because apparently there’s only one out there 😅 It’s a 20 min walk on flat ground from the Wadayama station so be ready for that. Also the taxi from the hotel to Takeda Station was around 2800 yen just fyi

Our stay at the Negiya Ryofukaku was nothing short of excellent. The staff were very professional and polite, accommodating both our very limited Japanese language skills and our request for a larger yukata (I'm apparently taller than the average guest). They do have english-speakers on staff, and the guide who walked us through the hotel's facilities and amenities was kind enough to explain everything in both Japanese and English, as we were trying to learn as much of the former and speak as...

What a great place... Everything was great! As a ryokan, the room was Japanese style, no shoes. The staff was not very conversant in English...enough to get by... and it could NOT have been better. The onsens were fantastic, eating in our yakatas a true experience. At dinner, the staff knew about our allergies and dislikes. The unbelievably wonderful waitress from Vietnam (I foolishly didn't get her name.) assured us at the beginning of our multi course meal that she and they would take care of...

Comfortable bed and very good breakfast buffet.

Surprised breakfast. Very good. It was difficult to find a two bed room in other hotels. Great choice.
