About this property
Creek-front Cabin on Wooded Acres
Welcome to Big Timber Creek Cabin!
Big Timber Creek Cabin is a creek-front log cabin on multiple wooded acres with views, a fire pit, and trails to walk or hike. The covered front porch enjoys mountain views, offers a gas grill, has dining and living areas, and an HDTV. The main level features an open eat-in kitchen, completely renovated in the summer of 2018, with stainless appliances, custom cabinets, and live-edge wood countertops. A round dining table and adjacent bartop seating accommodate 10 guests. The great room has vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings with exposed beams, wood floors, new furniture, a stone, a wood-burning fireplace, and a large HD Smart TV. The master bedroom is on the main level and has a king bed. It has been recently renovated and has an upscale, full bathroom, also accessible from the kitchen area. Upstairs are two more queen bedrooms, a small loft with an arcade machine, and a full bathroom, also recently renovated. All three bedrooms have HDTVs. There is a washer and dryer on the main level, a hot tub outside, and more. ***See the river access note at the bottom of the description.
The Timber Creek Cabins, centrally located in Valle Crucis, are just a few miles from the Original Mast General Store and the Valle Crucis Park. Boone and Banner Elk are less than ten miles away, and Blowing Rock is about thirteen miles away. As you cross over the small bridge onto the Timber Creek acreage, stay straight and to the right (pass the driveway to neighboring Little Timber Cabin, which sits to the left of Big Timber). Big Timber has a fire pit down by the creek. Little Timber likewise has a fire pit, but it is closer to the little cabin.
*Allows pets with an additional fee.
**Please note: Little Timber Creek Cabin and the neighboring Big Timber Creek Cabin can be booked together, offering a total of four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and sleeping arrangements for ten guests. Since both cabins also rent individually, they would both have to be available during your desired dates. Property Page for Little Timber Creek Cabin.
***Private access to the Watauga River is less than a mile from Little Timber Creek Cabin. The property owner also has a large, 6-acre riverfront meadow with hundreds of feet of river frontage a short drive away! Look for the sign that says "Timber Creek Cabins River Access." Bring your fishing poles, picnic baskets, rafts and tubes, kayaks, and canoes. Fish or float the river and have a family picnic on the river banks. A unique amenity for Big Timber Creek and Little Timber Creek Cabins guests!

Its very nice and cozy cabin Location is beautiful. Evenly close t o all three ski resorts. It has everything you need for stay. Evenight we enjoy wood burning fire pl
We truly had a wonderful time in this beautiful cabin, and on such beautiful property. The four of us had plenty of room, and we LOVED the porch overlooking the mountain side. We spotted so many deer, various birds, and a fox! We are already planning our next visit here, but for longer!
Cabin was great - especially enjoyed the back porch view and outdoor TV set up. Only downsides was that only one side of the gas stove worked and would struggle if stayed longer than a long weekend with a dryer that doesn't work well.
This was the cleanest vrbo we have ever stayed in. Beautifully decorated. Peaceful. Loved hearing the sound of the creek. Thankfully the weather was beautiful during our stay. Host does warn tire chains may be needed. Only thing I would tell future renters is that the driveway is very very steep with short sharp turns.
This cabin was a great place for me and my wife to enjoy our anniversary, quiet and private and only a short drive to town. We enjoyed playing the board games and uno the host had left also enjoyed fishing at the creek access! The bridge you have to cross to get to the cabin is a very tight turn for large vehicles was the only downside. I drive a f250 and had to do a 2 point turn going in and out everytime for fear of scratching my truck on the rocks or falling off the bridge
Our family enjoyed our stay! The hot tub and covered deck were lovely places to hang out. The kitchen is nicely stocked with all utensils, cookware, etc
We didn't use the fire pit, but what a lovely addition right next to the mountain stream. The driveway is steep and is tricky getting out if you pull straight in. Only two minor issues - we received check out instructions later than expected on our departure day so we had to scramble a bit to get things done. The dishwasher door doesn't open all the way due to space issues - so loading the lower rack is challenging. Other than that, we were so happy with our stay!
The cabin is beautiful and the view out the back porch plus the sound of the creek is so peaceful. The kitchen is well stocked and we had plenty of space.
I did not love having a second cabin on the property mostly because you have to walk down the driveway to the creek but in order to get up the hill driveway you have to go fast. I wish my son could have walked down to the creek in his own because he is pretty independent- but that made me nervous. The creek area is the only outdoor play area since it is all sloped-but it was lovely.
There was a lot of animal hair on the porch furniture- which is understandably hard to keep clean but it did tickle my allergies a bit.
Cabin is close to so many things and pretty easy to get to. I would definitely recommend it to families-especially with older children/teens.
Outside of a small hiccup with the keyless entry, which was quickly fixed, our stay was perfect. Great house and great location. Has everything you’ll need for a comfy stay.
Great place . Steep driveway,.. asphalt millings instead of small rock would help.. definitely need all wheel drive year-round.. but that's expected in the area.. clean .. neat comfortable place,.
The cabin was perfect! Had an amazing big porch with big flat screen tv, we watched movies at night on the porch. Had the flowing creek sound in the background, VERY RELAXING. Hot tub was clean and worked great.
We had a wonderful girls weekend at this cabin. It is beautiful and secluded yet nearby to Valle Crucis and Boone. We loved all of the nice details of the cabin, and especially the porch. The river nearby was picturesque. We hope to be back!
Good location for valley visits. Nice rooms, some lighting issues in the kitchen that the rental company handled. Dishwasher in an awkward spot. Loved the porch and hot tub.
We stayed here for a short weekend trip and had a great time. The cabin was perfectly designed and had great view. I was however disappointed in the cleanliness of it. The cabin was full of dust and master shower had mildew on it. There was also hair from previous guest on the bed sheets which was my biggest concern.
House was very spacious and comfortable.we were super impressed with how clean and well apointed the home was.
Our children and dog enjoyed investigating the outside property and the stream.
We appreciated how close we were to Boone, and especially enjoyed kayaking on the New River, outfitted from River Girl Outfitters in nearby Todd.
We had a great time, and we look forward to visiting again soon!

Needs a good cleaning
The carpets in the house smelled strong of dog, and probably need to be cleaned. I also think the hot tub needed to be drained and freshwater. The house was well equipped my only other comment was that you could hear everything in the house so if your are sound sensitive or a light sleeper this is not going to work

Disappointed
Unfortunately, as cute as this cabin is, the interior is very dark and somewhat gloomy. Water pressure and both showers is low. The propane range and the dishwasher are in disrepair. Many many of the dishes are chipped
Overall, we would consider returning, but there are some concerns. - could not find meadow area and stream connected to property- no binder or instruction book detailing operation of equipment and information of area.
-cabin not totally cleaned
dished in dishwasher not totally washed
This property was just as advertised. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay. Look forward to returning.

When we entered the cabin at check-in there were some crumbs and dirt on the floor in the kitchen, spider webs on some of the lamp shades, poop on the side of the toilet and floor in the downstairs bathroom, and blood stains on one of the pillow cases on the bed down stairs. The dishwasher was left packed with dishes from previous guests. The river access that was advertised was too far to walk with a dog and 14 year old kid with Autism and there was no parking area at the river access and meadow. The only place to walk my dog was a rock and gravel driveway. My dog is used to grass. We had to drive to the Valle Crucis Park to go for walks and walk along the river. Other than all that our stay was okay.
Pros: The cabin was absolutely lovely, furniture was comfy, amenities galore. Gas grill, indoor and outdoor dining tables, 4 sofas, numerous accent chairs, TVs in every room, love the Arcade Machine! Kitchen had every kind of pot, pan, platter, dish, silverware, etc that you could imagine. Coffee maker worked great, extra fancy toaster. Plenty of blankets, towels and pillows.
Cons: Only 1 roll of toilet paper in one bathroom, none in the other. Only one trash bag in the whole house, zero paper towels. Not earth shattering, but unexpected given the ample offerings elsewhere in the home. Also, someone's else's stinky trash was left behind outside which left no room for our trash. icky
