Sapphire Outpost, A Quiet Hilltop Cabin with Stunning Mountain Views
Escape to Sapphire Outpost, a private hilltop cabin on 8.67 acres with sweeping views of the Bitterroot and Sapphire Mountains. 1000s of acres of state land borders the property, so hiking, hunting, snowshoeing, and wildlife watching start right out the back door. Relax on the deck, watch the sunset over the valley, and fall asleep under a sky full of stars. It’s quiet and secluded, and the fast internet and strong cell service mean you can still stay connected. Sapphire Outpost sits in the foothills of the Sapphire Mountains on the east side of the Bitterroot Valley. Nearby Stevensville is Montana’s oldest town, with a small Main Street, local restaurants and coffee shops, the historic St. Mary’s Mission, and the Lee Metcalf National Wildlife Refuge. In winter, you can ski at Lost Trail Powder Mountain or Montana Snowbowl, each about 1.5 hours away. In the warmer months, there’s fly fishing on the Bitterroot River, trails in the Bitterroot and Sapphire ranges, and hot springs within driving distance. This 1,363 sq ft, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cabin has rustic wood finishes and large windows that frame the mountains from almost every room. The propane stove and mini-split keep the cabin warm through Montana winters, and the mini-split also cools it in summer. There’s an in-home washer and dryer for longer stays. Main level: A bright, open living area with views across the valley, plus a kitchen with a range, refrigerator, microwave, and dishwasher. Lower level: A fully finished daylight basement that gives you a second living area with room to spread out. Upper level: A finished attic nook, a cozy spot for reading or relaxing. Outdoors: A large deck for morning coffee, wildlife sightings, and stargazing.
