Silver Salmon Lodge
The Silver Salmon Lodge is a High-End Denali Log Home in the heart of the Kenai Peninsula! We are tucked away in spruce and birch forest frequented by the local moose, occasional caribou, bald eagles, grouse, and more! An acre lot ensures privacy and surrounded by spruce pines all around!
Our home is tailored for the family vacation. While it's also suitable for fisherman it's designed for the family/couples that are wanting to experience all of the activities in Alaska!!
It's a 3 bedroom, 2 full baths with Jacuzzi tub. It has a high-end kitchen complete with a Sub Zero glass door refrigerator, Wolf gas range, blue pearl granite countertops, black granite sink, separate freezer for your catch, and more!
The bedrooms are furnished with (2) queen, (1) full, and (2) twin log beds. I purchased higher-end mattresses for all 5 beds for optimum comfort after long days of adventure!
The upper floor full bath is complete with a Jacuzzi tub. The lower bathroom has a shower/bath combination with granite countertop and hickory cabinet.
The LG steam washer and dryer are stacked in the main floor bathroom neatly tucked into the front corner. I chose this combo because it will quickly and efficiently wash and dry large loads of clothes reducing the number of clothes our guest need to pack and bring on their trip.
The main room contains the wood stove (wood burning not gas) and leather sofa, love seat, reclining chair, LCD HDTV, etc. We also provide an 8 seat dining table as well as kitchen island with 3 bar stools.
Also provided:
*Direct TV service with High Definition and Tivo.
*Outdoor Propane Grill
*Outdoor fire pit in the back yard for telling all those tall fish tales!
Our home is decorated in native Alaskan prints, etc.and all linens are provided as well as a stocked kitchen. We only remove perishables or opened dry foods after each guest to reduce your grocery bill and save you time. The kitchen is stocked with a large supply of glassware, silverware, cooking utensils, professional cooking pots/pans, dinnerware, etc.
The beds are the traditional Alaskan hand-hewn log locally made. Logs are from local forest beetle kill pine. Our sheets and towels are replaced every 2 years and comforters/blankets every 3-4 years. Damaged/permanently stained linens are replaced immediately. In addition, our sheets are at a minimum of 300 thread count and most 400+. Pillows are down and quality foam. The two lower bedrooms both have queen size beds (One mattress is firm and the other is plusher) and closets with plenty of room. The loft is 12' x 17' with a full and 2 twin beds. The loft bathroom has a Jacuzzi tub and granite/hickory vanity.
**I do leave some of the previous sheets, towels, comforters that are unstained in good condition for use as well.
We chose Sterling because of its central peninsula location and solitude. We are minutes from the Kenai, Kasilof, and Russian rivers and several lakes. The Russian River Campground entrance in Coopers Landing is exactly 30 miles from our driveway. We are also, centrally located on the peninsula and within easy reach of Seward and Homer. 1.25 hours from Seward and 1.20 hours from Homer.
Incredible fishing for Kings, Sockeyes, Silvers, Rainbow Trout, and Dolly Varden. You can also go clamming for razor clams nearby! Plenty of mountain biking, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, climbing, etc.
***We do provide 8 spinning rods and reels for your use while staying at our home!
***I also make myself available during the season 24/7 to help guest with accurate up to date fishing information (current fish counts, current hotspots on rivers and streams all updated within 12 hours), Popular Hikes for all exp. levels, best kayaking excursions, preferred fishing and sightseeing charters, Wildlife viewing locations, etc.

We had a great stay at the Silver Salmon Lodge. It was well stocked with kitchen and bathroom supplies and centrally located. Doug was attentive to our every need. Thank you so much for the pleasant stay Doug! We definitely would rent from you again.
Everything from the home itself to the responsiveness of the property owner was 5 stars! I would give 6 stars if able. The Silver Salmon Lodge is the perfect space for an Alaskan get away. The home was clean and cozy. It is close to anything you need in Sterling/Soldotna and a perfect midpoint if you are trying to enjoy Homer and Seward. The freezer was a big plus for keeping our fish frozen from the beginning to the end of the trip. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Alaska!
We very much enjoyed our stay. The beautiful home was a great base from which we ranged all over the Kenai Peninsula for our daily adventures. Doug was great, easy to communicate with and responsive.
We had a great stay!! The house was very spacious and well appointed with everything you would need. Very comfortable for a small group, but would also accommodate a large group as well. Highly recommended
The host was very attentive. It was a great place to stay and centrally located for the local fishing spots. Quiet neighborhood. I would highly recommend this place.
The cabin was very clean and well stocked for all our needs while fishing in Alaska. Doug was very attentive and went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and the cabin was exactly as listed. The space was great for 4 of us and we will certainly consider staying there again if we come back for another fishing trip.
Great location for those wanting to fish both Soldotna and locations more up river. Clean house stocked with plenty of rods/reels and tackle. Owner was quick to answer any and all questions.
The cabin was exactly as Doug, our host said.
Perfect location for 4 men to enjoy the Kenia peninsula. Our cabin was beautiful and we enjoyed it so much. Top notch period.
The Kenia was beautiful and we caught plenty of Salmon..Thanks again to Doug .
Doug’s place was very clean and exactly as described. The kitchen was well appointed and had everything our group of six needed, including making a birthday dinner while there.
We’re sure Doug would have been very responsive if needed, but everything was so well communicated and outlined that there was no need for us to reach out.
Doug was absolutely amazing! Within minutes of booking he reached out to welcome us and to learn about our trip. We had a slight issue on our side prior to the trip and he was quick to respond, helping us to resolve it in a day. After taking time to know a little more about us he provided great suggestions for our trip. He was an incredible communicator through the entire process. Doug went above and beyond and it shows that he truly cares about peoples experience and satisfaction with his cabin. The cabin was perfect for our trip. It was clean and well stocked with everything we needed to include fishing poles. My son was able to go out almost every night and enjoy the outdoors exploring new lakes to fish on. The location truly felt like a getaway, but also in a great spot to explore the surrounding area. We also had a few visitors (mama moose and babies) stroll by. Traveling (especially with kids that don't always get along) can be stressful, but having this cabin to come back to after our days out was such a blessing. I highly recommend staying here and would stay again if we visit again!
We had a great stay at this cabin and enjoyed getting away from the hustle and bustle of the cruises (land and sea). The fishing equipment was perfect for "flossing" and I was surprised with the tackle available for other fishing. We had our own fly rods to go up stream to Kenai Lake to fish the creeks 45 min. And, I think Kenai Fjords were only an hour and a half drive and worth doing a hike. Our host was available if needed and willing to accomadate, if needed.
Surpisingly well equipped cabin.
Thank you!
PS This is a knit for me, but a grateful one. How often do you rent a condo and the knives couldn't even cut butter. I have to mention how sharp and useful the full set of knives were! Some of you are saying Huh?
The cabin was clean and beautiful and had everything we needed. Doug our host made himself available 24/7 and was incredibly thorough and helpful with all aspects of our stay. Highly recommend!
Cleanest vacation rental that I’ve stayed at! It’s a great place and the owner is super accommodating and easy to communicate with. Highly recommended!
