The Bothy, Faversham

  • The Bothy is a charming, renovated farm building, sitting within a working farm with lovely far-reaching views of the farm fields with grazing sheep and the distant iconic Kentish oasts. This traditional two storey building has a lovely open plan living space creating a spacious sociable area for friends or family to gather. Upstairs are three bedrooms, one ensuite, and the family bathroom. Outside is a patio, with garden furniture where you can relax, unwind, and soak up this lovely rural setting. Nestled in the beautiful Kent countryside, the area offers charming villages to explore, by foot, cycle or car. The historic market town of Faversham is a short drive away, and has a fabulous weekly market, as well as great walks along the creek. The medieval City of Canterbury is also a short drive with its iconic cathedral, and for those wanting to enjoy the coast, where better than a trip to the fishing harbour town of Whitstable famous for its oyster beds.

    Bedroom - sleeps 2, with Double bed, bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe, ensuite shower room with shower cubicle, wc and basin

    Bedroom – sleeps 1, with Single bed, bedside tables and lamps, wardrobe, chair

    Bedroom - sleeps 1, with Single bed, bedside tables and lamps, chair

    Bathroom - with bath and overhead shower, basin and wc

    Patio – with garden furniture and overlooking open countryside and the farm fields

    Things You Need to Know

    Towels and linen are provided, and towels for the hot tub
    Wi-Fi access
    Central heating throughout
    Children are welcome but you must bring your own cot and high chair

    House Rules

    We would respectfully ask that the following house rules are adhered to, to avoid any damages. Should any damages arise please note charges may be taken from your security deposit.
    Please note check out is 10am. Please ensure you vacate on time to allow our housekeepers to enter the property and prepare it for the next guests.
    Smoking is not permitted in the property at any time.
    Please note for insurance purposes the number of guests must not exceed the total occupancy of the house.
    For fire safety reasons please do not use any candles in the property.
    Please be respectful to neighbours. Quiet hours are between 11pm and 9am.
    Parties and loud music are not permitted.

Comfort in the countryside

The Bothy provided us with a really comfortable and well equipped base in a quiet rural setting, well in reach of local shops. Being situated on a working farm was not a hindrance at all. The location presented relatively easy access to many of the beautiful and interesting places in Kent, including the not to be missed Faversham.

A comfortable stay in a quiet location, close to amenities in Sittingbourne and further afield. Will be back on a regular basis throughout 2024 if available.

Short break

The Bothy suited us well. The owner, Chris, was quick to respond and rectify a problem with an alarm. Thank you Chris. Despite knowing that no-one could see in, not having window blinds in the bathroom and ensuite was a little off-putting. Having a receptacle for recyclables in the utility room would be helpful as would a tea caddy in the well equipped kitchen area. All in all we would recommend The Bothy to others and we may return sometime ourselves.

Lovely cottage with views

Cottage was lovely, the views couldn’t be better. It was very peaceful! The kitchen was well equipped and was big enough for 4 people to stay. A few areas of improvement- there were lots of cobwebs and dust on the windows, both inside and out. Some flies were found on the floor when we checked in. There is supposed to be a smart tv but must be an older one as doesn’t have the apps (if that is what you are after), there are surprisingly no locks on the bathroom doors and looks like they have been taken off. Shower gel and shampoo was advertised as being provided but this wasn’t. Some clearer instructions to getting in the property would be helpful although luckily the owner answered the phone to direct us, though didn’t know we were arriving! Overall the cottage was a lovely getaway in a great, peaceful location but could do with a few tweaks.

Summerholiday at the Bothy July 2024

We stayed at the Bothy for our summer holiday in July 2024. The house is wonderfully located in the countryside of Kent but only a short distance from local shops and the A2. Canterbury, London and the coast are close by. It took us a little extra effort to find the entrance of the property (Dully House) based on the provided instructions. The keybox was easily found and you can conveniently park just next to the house. The house is spacious and the bedrooms and living room/kitchen provided more then enough space for our family of 4. The garden was a wonderful place to sit and play games when the weather was good. We really enjoyed that. The living room is comfortable and has everything you need, including games, books, music, tv. We had an issue with the internet connection but the owner helped to fix it the next day. The kitchen is well equipped with all convenient appliances. There was more then enough cutlery and crockery, pots and pans. However it was a bit of a mismatch and many items were not very clean. We missed some pots and pans as they were in a somewhat hidden cupboard underneath the breakfast bar :-) There is also almost no space available for putting away the groceries during your stay. There are 3 toilets and 2 bathrooms. They were nice and clean. However the windows of the bathrooms upstairs look out over the countryside and the path towards the farm buildings. This provides little privacy when using the bathrooms since there were no window blinds installed. The sinks in the bathrooms are thigh-high which makes it very hard to use for washing and brushing your teeth. There is also no space provided to store any toiletries. The single beds were very comfortable. The double bed is a bit on the smaller side both in length and in width. The wardrobes were great and provided more than enough space for our clothes. Overall we enjoyed our stay very much. We were able to use the house as a wonderful and peaceful home from which we could explore Kent.
