Good communal area for children and staff were pleasant. However there was a very strong unpleasant smell thoughout the hotel and in the rooms. There was also large stains on the carpet in the hallways which were wet - we assume they had been recently cleaned. Breakfast was ok - however they had ran out off pastries when we attended at 9.30. Overall unlikely to stay again due to cleanliness/smell.

Our stay in Holiday inn express was so so lovely. The staff really friendly, helpful especially in the morning at breakfast. They were on the ball making sure everyone was well feed. The breakfest was truly delicious. I did not expect such lovely hot food for the price we paid. Great value, great staff and very comfortable beds. Not to far from Shrewsbury. There in 10 minutes. Thank you to all the staff and the hotel itself.

Lovely big clean room with ironing board, iron and hairdryer. Quiet and curtains blacked out light for good nights sleep in very comfy bed. Staff very welcoming and lift to our room on first floor.

The room was a good side and generally OK, but I made the error or paying extra for a Kingsize bed, not realising it's in fact 2 singles together, with a hard ridge in the centre, so I ended up staying on just one side and waking up throughout the night. Note to self, in the future stick with a double and save some money. Also the shower had a few issues, the drain seem to be partially blocked as the tray was steadily filling up with water, the light in the shower didn't work, and the shower gel dispenser was either empty or not working, but none of this made a difference. As for breakfast, good, except for the dry powdery eggs.

No hot water within the shower. Reported after the first morning, said they would look into it (not sure this happened). Still cold the next morning. We had two rooms booked and it was an issue in both rooms so not just an isolated room. Wasted a significant amount of water trying to get the showers to heat up to any degree. Also a lack of all/ fresh breakfast items (no baked beans at all on the first day, scraps of egg on the second day).

Great central location near M54/A5 also CoOp/Greggs, Queens chip shop walking distance. Breakfast included in cost of room - both continental and hot English breakfast. Bathroom clean and shower cubicle had seat area and a bath matt for those needing it - I stayed on ground floor these facilities may not be available on upper floors.

I enjoyed a one night birthday stay at the Holiday Inn Express Shrewsbury on 5/6 Dec. Check in was friendly and helpful. My room was very spacious, and had everything you'd expect. Vacuuming could have been a bit more thorough, especially in the corners. Ate in the hotel: beer selection fairly limited, and hotel prices (£6 for a pint of Stella). Menu also fairly limited, but had a nice curry for around £15. Impersonal service from the young waiter/barman. Bed was comfy, and had a good night's sleep. A little noise early on, presumably contractors leaving for work. Good sized bathroom, and great shower. Busy breakfast area, but managed to find a table. Breakfast was a selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit compote, pastries and toast with tea/coffee/juice. Hot buffet selection was bacon, sausages, egg (scrambled only), hash browns, tomatoes and baked beans. Nice late check-out of 11am. Overall, a pleasant stay, and good value for less than £50.
