The castle went through a number of owners since the Boleyn family after passing to the Crown on the death of Anne's father, Thomas Boleyn . In 1903 it was acquired by William Waldorf Astor, an American millionaire, who restored it in Tudor style using, as far as possible, the same tools as Tudor craftsmen. The extensive castle grounds are beautiful in summer, and include a rose garden which is lovely in full bloom. Definitely worth a visit for history-lovers and nature-lovers alike.
