I stayed at the CitizenM Amstel property in June 2025 for 2 nights. The room was larger than other hotel rooms I’ve experienced in Amsterdam. The air conditioner worked tremendously well which I find rare for Europe. The room was VERY clean (I’m very picky about cleanliness) and VERY quiet (I had a room overlooking the garden). The location isn’t super walkable to many of the tourist attractions, but it is next to the bus / metro which allows for easy transport between neighborhoods. The lobby had a nice bar area and offered a filtered water spout with carafes to take to your room. They also had free umbrellas which is very handy in Amsterdam. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who is looking for a clean, safe and reasonably priced hotel and doesn’t mind jumping on the bus or metro to get to some of the main tourist sites.

Really enjoyed my stay at the Clayton Hotel in Amsterdam. The building is beautiful, full of character, and the location is absolutely spot on! everything you could want is just a short walk (or tram ride) away.
We were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary room upgrade, which set the tone for a great stay. The room was large, clean and really comfortable! and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout, a real standout.
A couple of things worth mentioning:
the Chromecast in the room didn’t seem to want to connect to any devices (a small thing, but a shame when you’re hoping to unwind), and laundry services were on the pricier side.
All in all, a great stay in a beautiful spot. Would definitely return!!

The hotel is in a great position for walking or catching the tram around town. The breakfast specials like an omelette take ages to arrive after ordering or not at all. The shower is in the bath so it’s slippery. The ambience is dark with minimal lighting. Overall it’s a good hotel and more reasonably priced.
