Construction was interrupted by the American Civil War, and finally completed around 1868 by the new owner, John Wilder. Before Hansford's death, as retold in Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, the house had already been the scene of two deaths. In 1913, a previous owner tripped over the second floor banister, fractured his hip, and suffered a concussion, dying three days later. In 1964, a boy chasing pigeons on the roof fell over the edge and impaled himself on the iron fence below.

Everything we needed was available.The neighborhood was very quiet. The beds were great! It was a real plus to have free parking right outside. We also could walk to most tourist spots. We will be back.

Could have used a bit of additional clothing storage space (dresser etc) in the front bedroom. Overall a very enjoyable stay, it was clean and comfortable and in a great area!! Beds were also very comfortable.

We had just one night, but wished it was longer. The house is comfortable, a plus to have two ensuite bathrooms. Perfect location. Easy walk to everything, I even was able to enjoy my cup of coffee in the park.i will be back

Beautiful house in a great location. Easily walkable to everything in the historic district. 3 blocks to a Kroger grocery store. Very quiet. Beds are comfortable. Having 3 bathrooms was wonderful! Kitchen is spacious. Would definitely stay again.

Savannah Banana Youth Tour

We had a wonderful time in Savannah! The location was perfect. No more than 15 minutes from any of our locations! The walk to Forsyth Park was perfect for a run! The house was very clean and well laid out! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Comfortable house in a great location - just steps from Forsythe Park and convenient to the historic district & River Street. Easy street parking (free) right in front of the house. Fast & friendly communication. Recommend this property.

I have stayed at many VRBO rentals and this was the closest to perfect of all! The house is super cute, and super clean! It has everything you could need and more! We played games ( provided) at the big dining table in the living room at night and had a great breakfast at the cute table in the adorable kitchen. We were a group of 4 women . We had 2 in each bedroom and the fact that the beds were kings ( and so so very comfortable) was such a plus! I only have one recommendation, maybe the owner could somehow put some type of reflection on the edges of the stairs because there are black and therefore you just have to be careful. Oh and parking was never an issue, we parked within 2 feet of the front steps. I will definitely stay here next time we’re in Savannah!!
