Rancho Bernardo - The Trails
This VRBO has potential & was chosen because of the location & space. Peter (host) was responsive to questions & needs upon our arrival & during our stay (i.e. wifi info, a remote for the TV, coffee maker, toaster & gym pass).
The unit is also listed online as an assisted living facility.
We were disappointed in the cleanliness & presentation of the space. It's like the "potential" is a work in process while being rented out through VRBO.
The living room's furniture was stained & dirty. The white carpet throughout the unit is very worn & has stain rings here & there.
The bedrooms are a nice size. The mattresses were very uncomfortable. One bed was extremely squeaky, no box spring on another bed & no sheets on the twin beds. The bedding needs to be replaced - a pillow had a blood (?) stain on it, another one was so yellow we placed it in the closet, the sheets were thin & would not stay on the bed.
The bathroom outside the end bedroom was dirty. The toilet looked like it had not been cleaned in or out. We replaced the inside shower curtain as the one hanging was orange from use. We also bought our own shower mat due to the looks of the rugs in that bathroom.
The kitchen was a good size & had minimal needs for cooking & eating. The stove top had to be cleaned before use as it was covered in grease & chunks of food.
It's unfortunate but we were hoping to find a place that we could come back each year to stay and enjoy. This will not be happening at this VRBO.
