The staff were always happy and willing to help. In particular the staff in the restaurant were so helpful and worked very hard to ensure the best experience possible. The hotel is out of the way which is nice if you like the peace and quiet however if you want to walk into the town and to the beaches then it is about a 10 minute walk. No issues with the breakfast which had been noted on some reviews and the half board menu was not as bad either.

Overall, the hotel is ok. The rooms were clean. The food was average. The coffee was bad. The front desk staff were good. The cabanas were good. The pool is good, but closes early. The hotel has no beach. All the activity, including beach, restaurants and shops are in the centre of Santa Maria, about a 20 minute walk. But biggest problem for me was that for every purchase at the restaurant or bar I have to pay each time, with cash or credit card. I would be happy to prepay or pay for the charges at the end of my stay.

Lovely resort hotel away from the crowd. Clean room, very hot water (be careful!), and comfortable bed. Easy access to the beach, but no sun loungers on the beach, just access. Lovely lounger set up around the (unheated) pool. Tasty breakfast and lunch options, but expensive (breakfast is included). Very nice reception staff and polite and responsive dining staff. Overall a tranquil oasis for relaxing.

very nice place, a little disappointed in the room

this is a very nice quiet hotel, but there are a few things useful to know.....avoid room one which has no aircon working and is a bit dark. most rooms don't have a sea view and the road is a bit dirty. book well in advance as they get busy. the restaurant is great and the staff are very attentive at all times.

The hotel is located quite far away from the center of Santa Maria. As such, it is very quiet and the only noise you can hear in the night is the waves’ one. The staff is very kind and professional. Few cons: no buffet breakfast, no conditioner in the showers and the street to get there is not ideal.

Beautiful setting. Huge spacious room with brilliant ocean view. Comfortable bed. All plumbing works consistently well. Great location with lovely walk into town. Gripe: many ‘rules’ and rather unfriendly staff largely detract from notion of hospitality. Breakfast food often ran low, selection somewhat uninteresting.

The exterior of the hotel is beautiful, but the rooms are low quality. Very old decor with bits of the wall & ceiling filled in with filler. The air conditioning didn't work. There were exposed wires. Rusty handles. Bathroom shower water temperature was irregular. Bedsheets were old, unironed and they weren't changed regularly. Swimming pool isn't cleaned and hotel guests rarely go in the pool. We had to sometimes ask for towels. The manager says the rooms are fully booked and say they can change the next day, but it didn't happen. This was the same opinion of another guest. Hotel staff are generally nice. The breakfast is decent. The dinner is also good. The hotel food overall is good quality. Santa Maria is around 15 mins walk from the hotel. The road to the hotel is sandy. The environment around the hotel is like a building site. Santa Maria beach is 20-25 minutes walk.

"Budha" is a right name for the hotel , its a very quiet nice place , a bit away from big beaches and town crowds but within walking distance from all the "life", so we enjoyed a lot the calm chilling afternoon near the pool after busy days . People in the hotel are very nice , the manager Armanda was the top, she always was welcoming, warm and helpful whenever we needed. Loved the place and recommend.

We had an incredible 12-day stay at Hotel Buddha beach in Cape Verde! From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm hospitality and outstanding service. Quiet and comfortable hotel

Comfortable hotel at the opposite end of Santa Maria to the big resorts, by the windsurfing beach and 10 mins walk to the centre of town (don't let that put you off as well lit and safe). Room was big. Hotel and room kept spotlessly clean. Breakfast choice is ok but might become boring if there longer than a week, evening meal we tried was delicious (and always some live music in the evening which is nice). Pool was pretty cold at the end of Feb but didnt stop me from having a daily dip. Great cocktails poolside! Staff we're clearly getting ready for summer repainting and deep cleaning every part of the hotel over the week we were there. They really work hard to keep it in good appearance.

Fine hotel with great staff.

We stayed in a suite which I measured to be about 15x5.5 meters. Simply huge. The breakfast was great and the staff in the restaurant was just so friendly and kind. At the reception we had the pleasure to talk with all the people on duty. Great people. Special thanks to Armanda for her unique way to interact with the guests. If you’re considering this hotel, don't let the 800 meters to the center of Santa Maria keep you from booking it. The distance is easily walked or a taxi can pick you up or take you for 2-3 euros. The small beach behind the hotel has a lot of rocks, but the one 200 meters away by the fitness equipment is great. All in all a great experience and I highly recommend this hotel.

Overall, I really enjoyed my stay at the hotel. I only had one issue during my stay and a couple of suggestions. First, the shower in my room never worked properly, I put in a service request to have the shower fixed, and even after it was serviced, it never worked correctly. So there was never an opportunity to take a hot proper shower. Also the pool closes at 1800 every day which is a bit inconvenient being in a tropical area. The breakfast each morning was good, However, breakfast is only served from 8 AM to 10 AM. I wish they could add about a half an hour at the beginning and the end for more time especially considering some days you may want to get going early for tours and other days you might want to sleep in a bit. However, all of that being said, I enjoyed my stay and definitely would consider staying there again as the overall feel of the place is nice and the staff is very helpful.

Wir hatten eine Suite gebucht, welche sehr gross und einen grosszügigen Balkon hat. Das Zimmer war bei der Übernahme jedoch schmutzig. Der Zimmerboden war eklig. Auch nach dem Beanstanden an der Reception wurde nichts unternommen. Die Toilette hat immer nach Kanalisation geriecht und duschen konnte ich in 4 Tagen nur einmal warm.. Im Allgemeinen ist das Hotel etwas in die Jahre gekommen und sollte dringen renoviert werden
