"Great place if you’re visiting the Berkeley area or Cal in general. In walking distance of everything Cal related with great local spots everywhere. It’s a very old hotel and they have leaned into that, so if you want somewhere modern this isn’t for you, but if you want a piece of Berkeley history I highly recommend. "
DoubleTree by Hilton Napa Valley - American Canyon
6/10 Okay
"I would say my experience here was good enough. Initially after checking in and going to our room, we settled in and the television wasn’t working. We asked for another room with a working tv and were moved. The new room had a funny smell in the air conditioning was not working. The fan was working and we just used that and opened a window. Room had mini fridge but no microwave. Bathroom didn’t seem very clean, cabinets had stains like nobody wipes them down. Toilet paper holder was stained and dirty. The beds were so hard my back was hurting the next morning. Will probably look for a different location to stay at when I’m back in the area."
"Great area for walking, beautiful views, clean room. Plugs available on one side of bed only, room organization could be better. Had problems getting seated for breakfast, and order never arrived after 40 minutes."
"I would like to give a special thank you to Hannah at the front desk for her exceptional service. Although check-in was scheduled for 3:00 PM, we arrived around 11:00 AM simply intending to drop off our bags. She graciously accommodated us with an early check-in at no additional cost and provided us with a room featuring a beautiful view overlooking the city.
The rest of the staff were equally friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The hotel itself was clean, well-maintained, and very aesthetically pleasing. However, the fifth floor did have a noticeable musty odor, reminiscent of old or stale cigarette smoke. Additionally, the bed was quite firm, which may not suit those who prefer a softer mattress.
The restaurant experience was average. While the staff were attentive and kind—kind enough to remove a drink I didn’t enjoy from the bill—the food and beverages did not particularly stand out.
Overall, despite a few minor drawbacks, we had a positive experience and would consider staying here again in the future."
"There was clearly some sort of kid party happening at the pool. There were at least 100 kids in the tiny pool, easily over max capacity. The water was murky and it was so loud that if you wanted to say something to the person next to you, you’d have to yell for them to be able to hear you. I’m not overly sensitive to noise but I’m pretty sure the few moments I spent in the pool area caused hearing loss. I’ve been to rock concerts that were quieter. And the hotel staff just let it happen.
I had to ask to have the room cleaned again once we got checked in because it was dusty
The front desk staff seemed very unprofessional, maybe I just caught her on a bad day but I smiled, was kind and pleasant and she was extremely rude. And I was just checking in! I wasn’t complaining or asking for anything.
Then the parking situation, well that was a joke. They have about 50 spots in their garage which of course were full so we had to park in a neighboring garage and pay their prices and walk all the way over.
Walnut Creek is a nice area, there is no reason for this hotel to be so trashy. And it’s literally trashy! When we checked in there were people (guests?) eating out front and the next day when we checked out their food and drink containers were still sitting in the ground and in the bushes. No one bothered to throw them away. It was flat out gross. "
