Perfect spot east side of island
Beautiful spot, house is large, nicely furnished and decorated with a well stocked kitchen and other amenities. In a residential neighborhood, very friendly atmosphere and pleasant area to walk around. Pahoa is a quiet town, has a nice new grocery market and a few fun places to go out to eat or drink. We saw tons of whales go by from the lanai and enjoyed short day trips to Hilo and Volcano.

Beautiful home
The home was beautiful and very clean. The kitchen was stocked with everything you will need during your stay. The neighborhood was full of wonderful people with helpful suggestions on things to see and places to eat. The view of the ocean was breathtaking, we saw a lot of whales and turtles. I would highly recommend this vacation home.

Love this home
It is a clean and spacious house right beside the ocean. We appreciate the gorgeous ocean view and the holiday cookies from the host. The instructions for check in and check out are clear. We rented a car at the airport and drove to Hawaii Volcanos National Park (one hour driving), Kua Bay (two hours), and Maura Kea (less than two hours).

Wonderful Property
We spent four days at the house. We enjoyed seeing the whales literally right in our backyard on two occasions. Sunrises were spectacular and we very much enjoyed venturing to both the Town of Hilo and Volcano National Park.

First time visit!
This property is choice in provisions and location. The lanai is on the ocean with waves and a full sky of stars above. Quite surroundings. We throughly enjoyed this lovely place!

Gorgeous Ocean Views
This house was perfect for our family of 6. Everything we needed for a few days near Pahoa. We especially enjoyed being so close to the ocean and falling asleep to the sound of the crashing waves.

Perfect home away from home
This vacation rental was fantastic. It had everything we needed, plus some. The neighborhood was great and the views were spectacular. We truly enjoyed our stay and the property management company made the process easy. The home comes with many extras, like board games, ice chests, water bottles, beach chairs, beach towels, pack-in play, and more. It really was perfect for us. We look forward to staying at this home again!

Wow!!!!!
I have never stepped into a rental and been blown away. I had to check that I had the correct place, as it was so much nicer than the already beautiful pictures. Right on the water, you can actually feel the sea spray. The home is immaculate and very open. I couldn’t believe the quality for an affordable price.

Beautiful and Quiet Oceanfront Location
The location is beautiful and quiet. Being able to wake up to amazing sunrises over the water is definitely something we appreciated. The house has seating both indoors and outdoors. The kitchen is beautiful and has plenty of pots/pans, flatware, dishes, etc. There is no AC but that is pretty common in Hawaii. While there are plenty of fans in the home to help keep the air moving, the upstairs did stay pretty warm. The only downside was that there were no cooking supplies or spices at all, not even salt/pepper or cooking oil. One of the main reasons to book a house instead of a hotel is our ability to cook our own food. While buying a container of cooking oil spray for a trip is somewhat reasonable, buying salt and pepper is a bit wasteful when you are vacation. One hiccup was that the previous guest had accidentally left the remote garage door opener in their rental car so we had to manually open/close the garage door every time we left the house during our stay. The other confusion was that any attempts to contact Vacasa through VRBO were ignored. We did not realize until later that Vacasa had its own method of communicating with their guests for any questions (they have their own phone number and support page).

Incredible View
This home was simply amazing. The view is breath taking and just so peaceful. The area is quiet which our family enjoyed. When we vacation we want to get away from the hustle and bustle and this home delivered exactly that experience. We were able to explore most of the island and really enjoyed our stay.

The pictures don’t do justice to what you can see when you are here. The place was as described and even better. Waking up to the sounds of the waves and sleeping to the sounds of the lovely sweet birds was an amazing experience.

Amazing Ocean Front Location
This property , it location is literally in the ocean, amazing watching the turtles daily. The amenities and cleanliness were well above average. It’s peaceful listening and watching the waves crash frim the lanai.

Once-in-a-lifetime view
My family of four adults (2 elderly) stayed here for 4 days as our Hilo homebase (we previously stayed 4 days on the Kona side in another property). The house itself is exactly as advertised--huge, airy, comfortable, and with a view that must be seen to believe. We appreciated having use of the garage to park our rental car in, and the size and layout of the house suited our needs with comfortable beds and hot showers (and the half bath downstairs was a great convenience). The management company for this house was Vacasa, and during our stay there was a power outage--they were very responsive in picking up the phone and investigating the outage (turned out to be neighborhood wide and short lived), and after the fact they followed up by text as well. Only two cons--when we arrived, there was a note about the refrigerator needing servicing (the freezer worked fine). A mini fridge had been left for us in lieu--we would have appreciated some heads up notice because that influenced our grocery shopping. (they offered to have the repairman come by during our stay but we declined because by then we only had 1 more day left). And the location of the house is less than ideal, being about 15 minutes away from the closest grocery store and 40 minutes-hour from Hilo depending on traffic. Otherwise, we had a great stay.

Location remote, but worth the drive!
Stayed here with my husband and 2 adult sons. House was clean and modern with spacious well stocked kitchen. Beds were comfortable. Both of my sons slept in the bedrooms upstairs and they both reported getting warm in the middle of the night even with the windows open. My husband and I slept downstairs with the windows open and were very comfortable --plus you can hear the waves lull you to sleep! The view from the deck is outstanding! We were able to eat breakfast at the table out there one morning and it was sunny, breezy and absolutely perfect ! The location of this house is remote from grocery stores, restaurants etc. So we cooked breakfast and dinners here and ate out during afternoons. It is about a 50 min drive to Volcano National Park. We made this drive back and forth 3 different times which was kind of a drag but the accommodations and the exceptional views were worth it!

Beautiful View
I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but this house deserves it. Water views are unbelievable. Plenty of room. Very clean. Great quality-constructed house (which we are are very picky about). We could pull right into the garage. It was fabulous having a washer/dryer available. Very quite location. Soft bath towels. My only complaint would be either there was no cable package to watch tv, or we couldn’t figure it out.

Great host and Wonderful house
We loved staying here not only are the house and views beautiful our host was amazing. Super helpful with any information we needed around the area but communicated super well with us about any home instructions. The house is great fully equipped with everything and so peaceful. Nights full of stars and the peaceful sounds of the waves made for an amazing stay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The views from inside the house and out on the deck were spectacular, and we were treated to amazing sunrises and even glowing sunsets. The house was very clean, comfortable and well decorated. The quality of furniture, appliances, and kitchen supplies was great. We had everything we needed and loved having the gas range and nice cookware. It was an incredibly relaxing, quiet, and peaceful place; I could have stayed a much longer and would definitely like to come back sometime.

Pahoa house on the Ocean
This was a beautiful house with the deck was overlooking the ocean. It’s a great house if you are just there to relax and unwind! It is kind of off the beat and path. You definitely have to have a car! Don’t go to Hilo from 9:30-1030 am because there is a lot of traffic! There are many things to see on the Hilo side but some activities are pretty far from Pahoa. However the house is in a quiet neighborhood. You hear the crashing of the waves on the rocks! There are many birds that sing at night! If you don’t mind driving a bit then this house is perfect!

Great property. Amazing location.
My wife and I have stayed at Carolyn's property several times as my work brings me to the Big Island frequently. The house has never failed to be 100% clean and stocked, and this time was no different. Would that all owners that rent out on VRBO were as conscientious as Carolyn and her "Second in Command", Melissa. Great communication and we even picked up some artwork this time! (Melissa and her partner, Ron, have created some beautiful pieces that adorn the walls of the house interior, fortunately some are for sale).

Lovely Oceanside Stay
We had a wonderful stay at Carolyn’s home in Pahoa. The location is absolutely fantastic. We loved listening to the sounds of the waves crashing so close. Her home is also so perfectly clean. Communication was easy and thorough with the caretaker, Melissa. She was always available to answer questions via text. We appreciated her recommendations for things to do around the area. We really enjoyed Kaleo’s restaurant in Pahoa. The several house rules were a bit intimidating at first, but the expectations are all reasonable. No AC was not an issue for us with the ceiling fans on and windows open. We would highly recommend Carolyn’s house! It was a great location for spending an entire day at Volcano National Park and other attractions like the black sand beach, Akaka Falls, and Rainbow Falls. We would not hesitate to stay here again!

Beautiful views and ocean sounds
My family of 4, my mom and MIL all stayed here for 4 nights beginning of April. A little worried about no AC (husband is high maintenance) - but the temp in the house was great because we had a constant breeze from the ocean. Went to sleep every night listening to the waves crash in. Everyone in our party loved the house and the views. Melissa, the caretaker was very responsive to text messages and very helpful. It's about a 30-35 minute drive to Hilo downtown, so keep in mind, you'll be driving if you want to do in-town activities. Only downside I had, there's a beautiful kitchen table that takes water stains easily (Koa wood I believe) and they ask you to use coasters and with an 8 year old, I was constantly trying to keep track of where she was sitting her water glass - so that caused a little angst (as I didn't want to incur a potential damage charge). This was minor compared to the overall experience in the house - which was great.

Great Getaway
My wife and I spent a week here in February. A great peaceful retreat for us. The view and constant waves truly transport you. The house is clean and had needed amenities. One note: no air conditioning, but this turned out to be OK if you use fans. It didn't get really hot, and cooled down at night. Upstairs seemed OK during this February trip, but other than reading and using the restroom, didn't spend too much time up there. Property manager communicated well and hospitable.

Beautiful, clean, secluded
Rules and policies before the stay kind of came in waves, made it seem quite strict, but in the big picture all the expectiations are reasonable. The house is very very clean, lots of amenities, and literally sits on a cliff - the views are quite wonderful. The weather for us (in Feb) was sunny one day rainy another day and something in between the rest of the days. But the views can be enjoyed from inside too, so it's all good! Ceiling fans everywhere make lack of AC no big deal. Great kitchen and dining room (love that Koa wood table). Living room couches/ chair are comfy - no cable or satelite TV, but luckily we have multiple subscriptions to online services (Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+) which worked great. Internet is reliable. Bedrooms are nice, comfy, and high quality - master bedroom, closet, bathroom all very spacious. Use of the garage (incl washer/dryer) is a great luxury. Caretaker Melissa is beyond helpful and informative - super appreciated being able to text with her. Gave us great info on looking for whales from the deck (which we saw!) and on visiting Volcanos. Neighborhood is very quiet, a bit out of the way (takes about 20min to get out to the main Hwy), which is both a blessing (seclusion) and a curse (for touristing about). Do what we did and spend at least one day just enjoying the house/view - so worth it. Only suggestion would be some sort of lounge chair for the deck. Hard to be extra lazy out there with regular chairs, hahaha. Oh also, d/t COVID19 they can't stock the panty with "community" supplies that are usually seen in house rentals. So if you're gonna do any cooking, don't forget the little things ya might need - cooking oil, condiments, etc.

Perfect and Peaceful
We can’t say enough good things about our stay at this property. You won’t find a place with a better view near Pāhoa- we watched the waves for hours each day and were lucky to see whales close in, turtles, and a swell with waves powerful enough to shake the house. There is a wonderful deck to enjoy, but the views are just as stunning from the kitchen, dining area, and living area. At night, be sure to step out and enjoy the bright stars as well. The house itself is lovely. The beds in every room are incredibly comfortable with high quality bedding. Kitchen has everything you need for meals and serving. Layout was perfect for our family with two teenagers in tow - everyone had their own space. The laundry in the garage was convenient and the washer and dryer were new and worked wonderfully. Wi-fi was strong and reliable throughout our stay, so it was easy to work and for the teens to do schoolwork. Melissa and Carolyn were great with pre-stay communications and making sure we were settled in. Genuine Aloha. And much Mahalo. The property itself is in a friendly, quiet neighborhood. There is a lovely walk along the shoreline with two small parks. The new black sand beach formed from the 2018 lava flow is a short drive and hike- and we visited it several times. Day trips to Volcanos (went to see the lava glow!) and other beaches/hikes on the island were easy with beautiful scenery along the way. We will be back!

Nice Home on the Ocean
Very clean home on the ocean outside of Pāhoa. Both Carolyn, the owner, and Melissa, the property manager, were great to work with and very responsive. We spent 4 nights in this location as a base point to explore the Hilo side of Hawai’i with a focus on Volcanoes National Park. Driving time the the NP was close to 60 minutes, to Hilo about 30. Very nice grocery store in Pāhoa and did enjoy a great meal at Kaleo’s in Pāhoa. Close the the 2018 lava flows if exploring that area is an interest. Nice to have a secure garage to park in and found the master bedroom bed to be very comfortable. All in all, a good stay!

Big Island Getaway

Amazing oceanfront property!
Outstanding experience and absolutely beautiful property. About 40 minutes outside of Hilo, but the seclusion is worth it and the small town of Pahoa has groceries, restaurants and sites of its own. We’d stay again in a heartbeat. Melissa made check in a breeze.

Beautiful home and views
Our stay here was extremely enjoyable! The house was clean and comfortable. The house is well stocked with kitchen utensils. The views of the ocean and coastline from the lanai are amazing. We spent most of our time at the house, out on the deck. We saw dolphins swimming by on multiple days. Melissa, the caretaker, met us upon our arrival. Not only did she introduce us to what we needed at the house, but local options for food, and sightseeing, Her knowledge of the area enhanced our daily excursions. Both Melissa and Carolyn, the owner were extremely responsive to our questions prior to and during our stay. We definitely would stay here again and highly recommend this house!
