We loved this beautiful house with so much of it open to the outdoors and lounging outside for breakfast and enjoying the pool and hot tub. Magnificent views, gated neighborhood of large houses. Very safe and private. We were there the week before Christmas, and the weather was lovely (around 77 low 82 high) each day, it was a little cool for the pool with the ocean breeze and afternoon shade, but we still used it every day. It is a little drive to most things you want to visit on the island (steep roads over the mountains and one privately owned, unpaved road to Oyster Bay that is very bumpy!). Pierre the house manager was great - quickly fixed any little things that came up and very friendly. Catherine met us when we arrived, and usually would clean the house in the morning around 9:30, so you may want to coordinate with her about which days you expect to be out of the house by that time or if you only want her to come once vs. twice during a week stay. Communication was great with her as well, really we had just a wonderful time!
Our favorite outings were Ilet Pinel (no vendors trying to sell you things on the beach) and the all-day catamaran with snorkeling (booked through Viator). We loved lunch at the little place attached to the Columbus Hotel (La P'tite Pause) on Oyster Pond, and a more upscale dinner at Ocean 82 in Grand Case, Mama Pizza was also a more casual open air option we enjoyed nearby. Bring lots of cash! U.S. dollars accepted everywhere, credit cards only for some things (you have to look for ATMs, mostly at banks), and you can pay the same in cash dollars as the listed price in Euros. Most mornings we had baguettes and cheese/meats from Bread and Butter or Super U. There is also a market on Bishop Hill Rd. we would use for basics. We walked to Dawn Beach a few times but did not spend beach time there (went to Mullet Bay, Pinel Island, and Orient Beach), and had fun at Parrote Ville (if you like birds--in the mornings they are especially eager for the food you have). Definitely recommend staying here!
