They don’t build them like this anymore!! A true log cabin retreat. Sugar Knoll Lodge is fully equipped to make your stay pleasant and peaceful with many amenities for your entertaining purposes.
We truly have the best authentic log cabin home and location around. Our property is a large 1 acre lot by itself, located well off the main Highway up on a hill of the scenic Long Valley and below the White Cliffs. The property is on completely level ground and we love the exclusive bonus that it is also directly connected to thousands of acres of BLM land.
Be aware as you search that many of the newer built properties offered for vacation rentals in the Orderville/ East Zion area are built with imitation cement logs or rounded siding with drywall interiors. Our interior walls are the inside of the actual logs used to build the structure itself; we have decorated the lodge to exude the warmth of the natural materials. The home and land of the others are also either "tiny", built next to garages which have also been turned into rentals called casitas, are located on main roads or are on very steep hillsides. You will not share our property with any other guests and our property is very walkable for exploration and outdoor games.
Immediately adjacent to our property line is where BLM land begins. BLM is public use land open to free exploration without worry of trespassing. There are miles and miles of trails to be explored beginning right from the deck of Sugar Knoll Lodge. You can hike down along the creek bed back to the cliffs and a secret slot canyon. From here you can also hike over and up to the top of Sugar Knoll for spectacular uninterrupted 360 views.
Parking
As you arrive to the Sugar Knoll Lodge you will see the one acre property and parking is surrounded by a gorgeous split rail cedar fence. The driveway will park vehicles for your entire party including trailers and toy haulers. Additional vehicles are permitted to park on an adjacent driveway on the side of the property as well. There is certainly no shortage of convenient available parking.
Outside
We have added a gigantic natural sandstone patio and walking path surrounding the lodge and out amongst the juniper forest. These lead to a fire pit, plenty of seating for your whole group for roasting marshmallows, cooking dutch oven dinners and late night star gazing. We have installed 2 picnic tables for outdoor dining among the juniper trees. We also have chairs and tables situated around the outside of the lodge deck and patio for dining, relaxing and wildlife watching.
Taking a walk in the quiet solitude of our personal juniper forest that surrounds the lodge is a refreshing way to start the morning before a big day of exploration. Then later as the day settles down enjoy the colorful skies as the sun goes down over Zion National Park from your choice of 2 separate decks, the fire pit or the patio dining area. This area is designated a dark sky area limiting the amount of ambient light pollution allowed in the town and neighborhoods. This allows for the best of the best in dark night sky star gazing. The air is very low humidity out here and is clean, pure and free from any pollution providing amazingly clear views of the White Cliffs , Long Valley, our namesake Sugar Knoll and of course the East edge of Zion right from the property of the lodge during the days.
Decks surround the entire lodge for relaxing, cooling off, eating, visiting, cornhole games and other enjoyable activities. The open loft area sports a second smaller deck with amazing view opportunities.
Inside
The lodge is built with natural hewn logs and the color and texture provide a unique warmth and comfort in the living spaces. The floors are polished to a shine to highlight the natural knots and colors of the wood. The interior doors are solid heavy natural knotty pine. There are unique light fixtures throughout. The decor is inspired by travel sites and nature of the area. We were inspired by vintage National Park travel advertisement posters and jumped off from there.
The lodge is open concept with connected kitchen, cathedral ceiling. living room and dining room with a couple sets of glass doors that open out to the large decks. The stairs are open air and go up to an open area loft for more entertainment space. This loft/family room also has a glass door that opens to a balcony with Zion views.
The kitchen is stocked as well as any kitchen should be with all new and modern appliances. We’ve installed a water softener and water filter for pure drinking water right at the kitchen sink for your convenience . All stainless steel appliances include a gas range with electric convection oven, french door refrigerator with ice and filtered water in the door, built in microwave and range hood, dishwasher, trash compactor, dual sink and prep sink both with garbage disposals, KitchenAide Mixer, convection toaster oven, toaster, coffee maker both standard and Keurig pod style, coffee, creamer, sugar, waffle maker, griddle, slow cooker crockpot, blender, pots, pans, bakeware, prep bowls and service for a large crowd are available. We've tried to think of everything you might need during your stay at the Sugar Knoll Lodge.
The loft and master bedroom boast 55 inch flat screen Smart TVs. The king sized bedroom on the top floor also has a TV with Roku . The loft has a DVD player as well. High speed Internet through WiFi service is provided free of charge throughout the lodge.
The master bath is equipped with a 2 person jetted Jacuzzi tub, double sinks and double showerheads, enclosed toilet room and walk in closet.
Each of the bedrooms is large and spacious. We wanted to make this a relaxing and luxurious vacation rental while giving an adventurous beautiful local nature feel.
There are convenient laundry machines in an enclosed closet on the main floor with detergent for your use.
