Cute and quiet Ohawe cottage

Very private, newly refurbished, one bedroom cottage at friendly Ohawe Beach - a great place to unwind and relax. Five minute walk to the beach which is great for surfing, fishing, swimming, poking around in rock pools or just walking (it’s dog friendly too). Safe water hole for swimming in nearby Waingongoro River.
Ohawe is just a 7 minute drive from Hawera for shopping, eating out, cafes, museum, parks and gardens. Easy access to Mount Taranaki for walking and cycling tracks, Dawson Falls, Surf Highway 45 and just an hour away from New Plymouth.
This cottage has everything you need including a comfortable double bed, Smart TV, DVD player, BBQ, washing machine and new shower. Has a private garden, deck, plenty of parking space and located on a quiet road.
DOGS ALLOWED ON REQUEST (please advise what breed of dog/s and how many - there is a small $10 fee per night for dogs). The property has a fully fenced garden.
Please read the full description carefully, for instance; the fridge does not have a freezer compartment and there is no oven. UPDATE: We now have a desktop ice maker and an Air Fryer at the cottage.
MAXIMUM ONE MONTH STAY. Your booking may be cancelled if you book for longer than one calendar month.

Lovely well-appointed bach for a quiet getaway

Can't fault this bach, very clean, everything we needed, and check-in process was seamless. The property is very well maintained, and if you want to escape the hustle and bustle in a very quiet little township I'd highly recommend.

Lovely cottage

Cottage was very comfortable for the 2 of us and quite sheltered from the strong winds at the time we were there. Everything we needed was there. Hosts are great communicators. Definitely stay there again.

Best Xmas for 2 ever

Quiet cozy private beautiful cottage and the little things that made it more special. The bean bags icemaker the beach down the road and was only10 minutes from Hawera. EXCELLENT!!!

This was such a lovely cottage. The location was great - very quiet with a lovely private garden and the beach within a few minutes walk. The accommodation was excellent with everything that you could need and all was of very high quality with a very homely feel. We had a wonderful couple of days here and wished we could have stayed longer!

Everything you’re looking for and more

Amazing little home with everything you’d possibly need while staying there. Really comfy and cosy to hang out in during a couple of bad weather days that we had. Never stayed in a place that is as well equipped as this one. Would stay here again and highly recommend to couples.

Quiet Getaway

Cute and cosy

This cottage is exactly as described, cute and cosy, dog-friendly (fully fenced including for smaller dogs), feels private and secluded, and is only a short walk away from the beach. A very peaceful place to stay, no cell coverage but there is wifi if you want to stay connected.

Beautiful property. Felt like we were in the tropics. Warm cozy home, well furnished with everything you would need. I would only recommend a small portable oven but otherwise just a fantastic stay. It was close to a ruggered long beach but you must catch the tide correctly as at high tide there is very little sand to walk on. At low tide you have a huge beach to explore.

Tidy little holiday house

Thanks for the stay. Appreciate the 11am check out with the offer to extend this. Sunny porch. Not sure what to do about the ventilation and dampness on windows in the morning - other than keeping a window open. A hose somewhere would be useful to hose sand off the dog from the beach. Cheers

Fabulous little cottage/cabin - So well equipped!

PROS: This bach was incredibly well equipped and comfortable and contained all the bits and pieces you need for self-catering. It was also very tastefully decorated and was situated in a lovely garden with beautiful plants and imaginative arty touches. The instructions we received were well written and enabled us to settle in and use the accommodation with no need to contact the owner and ask further questions. The bedroom was air-conditioned so we were able to get a good night’s sleep despite the unusually hot weather. From the eating area you could look out onto small pleasant grassy hills. The beach was within easy/moderate walking distance. Good food shopping was available about 10 mins away by car at Hawera. There is a nice little veranda on the north side where you can sit and survey the hills and garden. There are a number of interesting trips you can do from Ohawe and we filled our week there quite happily. CONS: it did get hot in the bach during the day during the 30+ temperatures we experienced. The owners can’t help the weather and at least the bedroom was air-conditioned. The beach at Ohawe was a bit off-putting for us from Queensland where we are used to lovely white sand. Here the sand was quite dark, almost black. We had known about this but hadn’t realised how hot the sand becomes in the sun. Ohawe itself is very quiet, but OK if that is what you want. The nearest town, Hawera, provides what you need, but is not that interesting. SUMMARY: We were happy!

Perfection

Beautiful quiet spot. Spotlessly clean. Comfy and cosy with extra blankets etc. Dog friendly, being fully fenced. Laundry facilities. And well supplied kitchen. Its everything you would need. We stay at numerous places but this is definitely our favourite for a quiet few days away. Thank you so much. We will be back!!
