There was more parking spaces when we got there late, the receptionist was very helpful she explained where the restaurant was and the bar where we can now order food if we are hungry which we were, because the restaurant was closing. The rooms were very clean, breakfast was nice dinner was excellent depending on your choice. Overall friendly staff and my stay was enjoyable. Plenty of leaflets on were you want to go and see.

The room was lovely although the rest of the hotel was tired and looked run down and closed from the outside. I would not have felt safe staying there if I had travelled on my own.

Ordered a cappuccino at the bar and they had no chocolate sprinkles and said they dont use them, strange gor a hotel of your calibre. The breakfast buffet was really good a nice selection.

Staff were very pleasant. Room was clean and comfortable, no milk to be able to make tea or coffee in the room. Everything worked but is very dated everywhere, carpets looked like something out of a 70s horror movie. Breakfast, we went down at about 9am, and I think most of the food had been sitting under the heaters for quite a while as my eggs were hard and the black pudding was like eating pebbles. We didn't use the restaurant in the evening, but id heard good things. Overall it's ok but unless you get a cheap price you're better off with a premier inn.

The pool did not even have water in it but they tadvertiing pool facilities abs that was one of reasons we booked it. It’s very worn hotel in industrial estate but was comfortable the beds are huge. The hotel is definitely not a 4 star as advertised

The property had staff that were helpful and polite we arrived early and the chap let us check in and order us a taxi to get into town . When it was late he kept us informed. The room was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed . The shower products were lovely . The breakfast selection was fab and the morning staff were chatty. The hotel needs a complete overhaul it is dated and tired looking which I can imagine is disappointing for the staff that work hard . They deserve investment in the place they work . There was a front entrance before you got to the main doors that was plain awful and very off putting I was tempted to drive off but we didn’t due to our commitments .

Staff were all lovely, but the hotel is like walking back into the 90’s. It was so dated, the pool/sauna/steam room haven’t reopened post covid and it just felt really neglected. Not what I’d usually expect from a Mercure

We arrived early at the hotel but fortunately for us our room was ready and available so we were able to access early. The staff on desk the were very helpfull and were able to provide us with additional teabags as requested. The room we had was an accessible room, it was very clean and tidy. There was air con in the room, only issue we had was that the temperature had been preset with no control to adjust. Breakfast was buffet style, help yourself. There was a very good selection available with a variety of teas and coffees from a coffee machine. We opted for a cooked breakfast which wasn't piping hot, but we find this is normally the case for breakfasts warmed under the counter. Other items included cereals, fruit, yogurts and pastries. We booked the hotel for an event that we attended there that evening. The hotel is dated but overall we enjoyed our stay.

Noise Disturbance

Check-in was efficient, and breakfast was decent and good value. However, our stay was disturbed by a birthday party taking place two floors below our two rooms, which lasted until midnight. The music and noise were so loud that we were unable to sleep until the party ended. When we called Reception, we were told there was nothing they could do. We would expect the hotel to manage such situations better, as the comfort of overnight guests should not be compromised by events held on the premises.
