We had a wonderful stay here with our family of four. The cottage was quaint and comfortable, and exactly what we needed after a long day exploring the Cotswolds — peaceful, quiet, and relaxing to come back to in the evening. The location is fantastic, just a short distance from Highclere Castle. The kitchen was well stocked with all the basics, including spices, which made cooking easy. We also loved the thoughtful touch of breakfast items left for us on arrival. Our host was warm and welcoming, greeting us in person on the first day and making sure we had everything we needed. We’d happily stay here again!

We were made to feel very welcome and loved our stay in Hawks Barn. It has been beautifully renovated and had everything that we needed. A real bonus was nearby access to a walk in the grounds of Highclere.

What a lovely find in the quiet countryside of Highclere! Max was very personable and was kind enough to leave a few breakfast items for us when we arrived. Beds were super comfortable and the place was spotless. Loved being literally on the "back doorstep" of the Highclere castle grounds and it was wonderful walking through the fields and forest. Do stop in at the Red House pub nearby as well, very friendly staff and there is a terrific deli next door during the day. Definitely recommend!

Thank You Hawk's Barn!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Highclere, at the Hawk's Barn. It was a wonderful spot for our day trips to Oxford, Stonehenge and the Cotswolds. Beds were extremely comfortable and perfect for our family of four, with the kids seperate two, twin room. Would absolutely recommended this to anyone looking for a place to stay and we extend our thanks to Max and his wife and family for being exceptional hosts.

A very relaxing and comfortable stay

Hawks Barn in beautiful Highclere was everything we thought it would be. Comfy beds, stunning decor, clean, well stocked kitchen and fridge for a full breakfast and green country views from every window. We did have an issue with the hot water however the problem was promptly rectified.

We chose this location as a base to explore the southwestern area of England. When we arrived, there was a little confusion over the location of the key but it was immediately rectified. The location was quiet and peaceful. The owners are close by and very responsive. Caution to those on the taller side due to the pitch of the roof upstairs. It was even tighter in the shower. But don’t let this keep you from enjoying this lovely property. Thanks to the owners for providing a few basic provisions. After hours of travel and a good night’s sleep in very comfortable beds, it certainly was helpful in getting us moving the first morning. You simply cannot go wrong selecting this property.

Ideal location and helpful hosts.

Great communication with Max. Amber and Max were very helpful but mindful of our space, considering the proximity to their home. Excellent living space and location for walks. Personally recommend Malverleys Farm and Dining for a walk and coffee and cakes. Newly opened in June 23 - lunch/ dinner menu looks appetising too. 1 potential concern about the property, depending on who you're sharing with, the main bedroom is at the top of the stairs with access to the bathroom. The twin room is off the main room with a door - the main bedroom doesn't have a door so the people from the twin room can view you in bed. Again, something that needs to be highlighted the property details,in my opinion, and only an issue for some people. I would recommend this accommodation based on the correct configuration of your party.
