This was the second time at Clarence House. Overall I will say it's a great place to stay. The staff are always great and willing to go an extra mile to provide any help requested. The restaurant also serves great food. The rooms are clean and spacious. Will definitely return again.

Clarence House is an excellent place to stay and is in a safe and quiet neighborhood of Westlands. Its close proximity to Sarit Center Mall makes it an ideal place for someone who needs some good shopping and dining options. The staff are very nice and respectful and respond to messages promptly. Will recommend it if you plan to stay in Nairobi.

Friendly and correct personnel. Clean. Helpful. Good bed. Relatively quiet. Some of the finishing was done “à la Chinoiserie”: bathroom door and lamps (but therefore it’s not a five or four star hotel)

The check in process was an absolute nightmare. I had a confirmed booking with Expedia, but on arrival it was clear something was wrong when they asked me to have a seat - for 2 hours! The hotel had given away my reservation for a 1 bedroom and simply cited they overlooked Expedia. Wow. So they put me in a studio thinking I wouldn’t notice? I had to go back down again and wait even longer. The front desk manager, hotel manager and even the general manager shook my hand as if that was going to make anything change. They act all polished, but the entire process and staff was in shambles. An embarrassment to hospitality when they took no responsibility for all the errors they made with me. I then sat down in the lobby even longer while they continued to figure out their process. I was offered an upgrade to a 2 bedroom, so I said sure. Until I got into the 2 bedroom an hour later and saw they locked 1 bedroom? How is that an upgrade then? Not only that, the door wouldn’t open because it had dead batteries and even worse .. the refrigerator was broken! And even better, no city view from my balcony as I booked .. only a 2nd floor view of the street and the parking lot. I asked the general manager Rosemary for some support, but she wouldn’t budge an inch and took zero responsibility for the chaos during the whole process. She also refused a refund for my following 2 days. We left the following day and the rest was up to me to work with Expedia for a refund.

Well Located Property in a Quite Area of Nairobi

The Clarence Hotel is well located in a very peaceful area of Westlands and ideal for those who have meetings in this area that you like to retire to somewhere quiet at the end of the day. The welcome on arrival was very good, from Naomi. There is a rooftop terrace with reasonably sized heated swimming pool which leads back into a bar area and then into the restaurant. Furthermore for the colder months, there is plenty of seating with good views over the city. I was impressed with the security at the main gate, which is always a concern when travelling to Africa. I had a couple of teething issues with my room but nothing to write home about. These were handled extremely well by the general manager himself, Renny whose whole demeanor was friendly and kind person who seems fully committed to a good customer service. My thanks to Daniel who saved the day when the safe decided not to function properly although it could have been my fault! He competently sort this problem out. My room was more of an apartment and huge in size so it really felt like coming home at the end of my busy day in the city. The breakfasts are quite basic and could probably do with some thought on ways in which improvements could be made but I would say on reflection they are adequate. There is an extensive dinner menu and I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was and in particular the chicken korma.
