We didn't have to use the self-check in, as staff is not there all day/ night. There are a few steps up to the lift, a small reception area. Door locks are a bit tricky, but we enjoyed our stay. "Great location hotel was clean and well maintained. Negativities : the front rooms face the train are very noisy until midnight. The beds are foam and hard as a rock to sleep on. The staff could be more welcoming and pleasant to guests, but after being in Switzerland for awhile you quickly see this is not in their nature to smile or be generally polite to strangers."
