"Our goal for our trip to Japan was to hike Mount Fuji, but one of the unexpected highlights was our stay at the Kappo Ryokan Uoichi! Post-hike, we moved from Tokyo to Osaka with a stop at the Ryokan in Shimada. Two families (eight of us) stayed at Kappo Ryokan Uoichi and had a wonderful time. The building is a 150-year-old restaurant, and the stay included a shared bedroom with eight futon beds, an adjacent family room, a private bathroom, and a shared onsen. "The staff at the hotel were excellent in their professionalism and helpfulness. The facilities were as you’d expect in a budget hotel, providing pyjamas, hair brush, toothbrush and toothpaste, towels, razor, cotton buds, hairdryer etc. The beds were very comfortable and clean. I would recommend this hotel. The only negative is that the decor is dated, but that can add a little something extra to your stay to be honest. Our room, 318, had a great view of Mt Fuji."
